Patrick Mahomes and Brittany Matthews Are Officially Having a Better 2020 Than the Rest of Us
The good news just keeps on coming for Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes and his fiancée Brittany Matthews. While many people around the world would describe 2020 as a dumpster fire of a year, the young couple is having the best year ever.
Patrick Mahomes kicked off 2020 with a historical playoff run and Super Bowl win
At just 25 years old, Mahomes has already reached the pinnacle of his profession. In January, the quarterback led the Chiefs through a historic playoff run that ended with the team competing in their first Super Bowl in 50 years.
In February, Mahomes led the Chiefs to a Super Bowl victory and earned his first Super Bowl MVP award. Cameras captured Mahomes’ on-field celebration with Matthews when she jumped into his arms.
Of course, just weeks after the victory the world changed when the pandemic hit. As Cheat Sheet previously reported, Mahomes and Matthews were in their hometown of Whitehouse, Texas, at the time. They quarantined together in Texas for months. And Matthews — a personal trainer — regularly posted home workouts on Instagram with Mahomes.
At the same time, Mahomes and his agent were negotiating the biggest contract in the history of professional sports. In July, the quarterback signed a record-breaking 10-year deal with the Chiefs worth up to $503 million dollars.

When the NFL figured out their pandemic protocol for the 2020 season, Mahomes and Matthews returned to their home in Kansas City. He headed into training camp to prepare for the season. And, just before opening day the Chiefs had a ceremony at Arrowhead Stadium to hand out Super Bowl rings.
Matthews was in the stands for that event. But what she didn’t know was that Mahomes had prepared something special for her in one of the stadium’s luxury suites. As Entertainment Tonight reported, Mahomes decorated a suite in white flowers, candles, and a huge lighted sign that read, “Will you marry me?”
Matthews immediately said yes, and Mahomes took to Instagram to show off the jaw-dropping engagement ring he gave his bride. He captioned the photo “Ring SZN.” Matthews also posted pics of the decorated suite, as well as photos of their romantic candlelight dinner.
“This happened today,” Matthews wrote. “My heart is so full! I love this man so incredibly much and today was so special. Couldn’t imagine this day being anymore perfect.”
Patrick Mahomes and Brittany Matthews reveal the gender of their baby
As if a Super Bowl win, a historic contract, and an engagement weren’t enough, Mahomes and Matthews had more big news to share in October. The couple announced via social media that they were expecting their first child.
They both shared the news on their Instagram pages by showing off a sonogram pic. And now, the couple has revealed that they are expecting a baby girl. This week, both Mahomes and Matthews posted pics and videos of their gender reveal that featured their two dogs, Steel and Silver.
The two dogs walked across white paper laid out on a runway and covered it in pink paw prints while Mahomes and Matthews celebrated the exciting news. He then put on a t-shirt that read “Baby Daddy,” while she rocked a jean jacket that read, “Baby Momma.”
Matthews posted a bunch of pics, including one of her and Mahomes with Steel and Silver. She wrote in the caption, “Can’t wait to be a family of 5💕 #babygirl.”
In his caption Mahomes wrote, “Baby Girl💕💕P.s- Yes, my dogs walked down a runway with pink paws for the reveal 🤩😍.”
Neither Mahomes nor Matthews have revealed their little girls’ due date.
