This year, the Kansas City Chiefs are going for their third straight Super Bowl championship. And while tight end Travis Kelce gets plenty of publicity for being the boyfriend of pop star Taylor Swift, he’s actually one of the greatest NFL tight ends of all time. Kelce and Patrick Mahomes, the team’s quarterback, are two of the league’s best players — and a big reason the Chiefs are going for the three-peat.

But which of these NFL stars has the higher net worth?

Travis Kelce is worth an estimated $52 million

Kelce, who is 35 years old, first joined the NFL back in 2013, when he was drafted to the Kansas City Chiefs in the third round. He has been on the team ever since (his older brother, Jason Kelce, also spent his entire NFL career with just one team — the Philadelphia Eagles).

Kelce currently has as a $34.25 million contract with the Chiefs, which is a two-year term, so he’s making more than $17 million per season. Kelce and his brother Jason are also known for their podcasting skills, and the two recently inked a deal with Wondery in summer 2024 worth a whopping $100 million. Kelce has dabbled in television, too; he was reportedly paid $750,000 to host Are You Smarter Than a Celebrity and made $100,000 per episode of Grotesquerie. As of 2024, Forbes had estimated Kelce’s net worth at around $52 million (nowhere near his girlfriend’s $1 billion+ net worth, but he certainly still has money).

Patrick Mahomes is worth an estimated $90 million

Mahomes is the backbone of the Kansas City Chiefs. At just 29 years old, he’s well on his way to being known as the greatest NFL quarterback of all time — yes, even compared to Tom Brady. And with potentially another decade — or more — of playing time in the years ahead, Mahomes has plenty of time to prove himself as the best of the best (though most would say going for three straight Super Bowl championships proves everything).

In 2017, Mahomes was selected by the Kansas City Chiefs in the first round; 10th overall. Mahomes’ first contract was worth $16 million over four years — pennies compared to what he’s making today. The quarterback is currently on a 10-year contract with the Chiefs worth a staggering $503 million; it’s the highest-valued sports contract in history. Mahomes is reportedly worth a whopping $90 million today. He married his high school sweetheart, Brittany Matthews, in 2022; they have been together since 2012. The couple shares three children.
