Paul McCartney and Justin Timberlake Had No. 1 Songs With the Same Title
Paul McCartney and Justin Timberlake write very different songs. Despite this, they each had No. 1 songs with the same title. In interviews, Paul and Timberlake revealed these songs were different from what they originally intended.

While Wings were not as successful or iconic as The Beatles, they had quite a few hits. One of them was “My Love,” a piano ballad which vaguely recalls the Fab Four’s “The Long and Winding Road.” According to NME, Paul discussed how Wings’ Henry McCullough gave “My Love” a solo that was very different from the solo the cute Beatle intended.
“I’d sort of written the solo, as I often did write our solos,” Paul recalled. “And [McCullough] walked up to me right before the take and said, ‘Hey, would it be alright if I try something else?’ And I said, ‘Er … yeah.'”
Paul was incredulous. “It was like, ‘Do I believe in this guy?'” he remembered. “And he played the solo on ‘My Love’, which came right out of the blue. And I just thought, ‘F****** great.’ And so there were plenty of moments like that where somebody’s skill or feeling would overtake my wishes.”

During an interview with Power 105.1’s The Breakfast Club (via HipHopDX), Timberlake said his song “My Love” was also different from what he initially intended. He wanted Jay-Z to perform a verse on the song. Jay-Z declined because he recently performed a guest verse on Beyoncé‘s “Déjà Vu.”
“I think he was working on his own music as well, so he didn’t want to be on too many things,” Timberlake said. “And I said, ‘I totally respect that. I’m obviously not gonna get into any domestic anything. That’s your wife.'” Jay-Z and Beyoncé were not actually married yet when Timberlake released “My Love.”
Regardless, Timberlake said it’s for the best that T.I. appeared on “My Love” instead of Jay-Z. “And it ended up being an interesting blessing in disguise because I think [T.I.] for that record — I mean, his verse is phenomenal.” Timberlake said.

Wings’ “My Love” remained on the Billboard Hot 100 for 18 weeks. It spent four of those weeks at No. 1. Its parent album, Ruby Rose Speedway, became a hit as well. It peaked at No. 1 on the Billboard 200, staying on the chart for 32 weeks.
On the other hand, Timberlake’s “My Love” lasted 29 weeks on the Billboard Hot 100. It spent three weeks at No. 1. Its parent album, FutureSex/LoveSounds also peaked at No. 1 on the Billboard 200, staying on the chart for 106 weeks. While Wings’ “My Love” and Timberlake’s “My Love” are very different songs, the public seems to like songs with that title.
