‘Peaky Blinders’ Season 6: Fans Think They Know What Thomas Shelby Is Carrying in His Bag in New Twitter Promo
Thomas Shelby seemed in dire straits at the end of Peaky Blinders Season 5. Someone threw off his plan to assassinate Oswald Mosley — and he doesn’t know who it is just yet. Fans fully anticipate Peaky Blinders Season 6 answering all of the lingering questions from season 5. And now, fans are speculating on what Tommy is carrying in a large bag in one of the recent Twitter promos.
New Twitter promo video hints at the ‘Peaky Blinders’ Season 6 release date
When is the Peaky Blinders Season 6 release date? The show creators and BBC Network haven’t given a specific day just yet, but the content they post to hype the new season gives clues. On Nov. 20, 2021, the official Twitter for the show posted a clip of Thomas Shelby with the caption, “#PeakyBlinders series 6. Early 2022, on @BBCOne and @BBCiPlayer.”
Additionally, director Anthony Byrne posted his own clues about how far along production is with the new season. “We just finished cutting the final episode of Peaky,” Byrne wrote on Instagram on Nov. 10, 2021. The photo showed him and show editor Paul Knight outdoors. “Still, a lot more to do, but spending the last months with this talented f*** has been a great pleasure. He’s a great friend and collaborator and I couldn’t do what I do without him @pdknight.”

The Twitter promo advertising the Peaky Blinders Season 6 release date may have hidden information. The short video shows Thomas Shelby walking alone at night, seemingly through Birmingham. He’s dressed in his usual attire and is carrying a large bag by his side. He appears worried as he walks.
So, what’s in the bag? Fans on Reddit speculated that it could be guns or explosives in the bag, as other leaked footage shows Thomas Shelby tossing a bag of explosives into a canal and walking away at night. The two scenes could certainly have a connection. As for guns, it’s entirely possible Tommy and the rest of the Shelby family are planning something big after the failed attempt to assassinate Oswald Mosley. His moving guns at night, while everyone else in the city sleeps, seems to check out.
Other Reddit users suggested the bag could contain money.
“My guess is money, a lot of money,” a fan wrote.
“Money … either to pay someone for nefarious acts committed on his behalf, or it’s ransom … in which case, who got kidnapped?” another Reddit user guessed.

A few other fans on Reddit suggested Thomas Shelby’s bag could contain Michael Gray’s head. Did Michael Gray betray Tommy Shelby in Peaky Blinders Season 5? Many fans suspect Polly Gray’s son was the one to sabotage Tommy’s plan and allow Oswald Mosley to get away unscathed, his Michael’s new wife, Gina Gray, and her family might be in cahoots with Mosley. Additionally, Michael and Gina hoped to bring Shelby Company Limited to America. Tommy vetoed the idea, angering them.
Other fans think Aunt Polly Gray’s absence will also call for an all-out war between Michael and Tommy. Actor Helen McCrory died, so it’s unclear how much fans will see of her character in the new season.
“Plus, with Helen [McCrory’s] death, Polly will be gone, so maybe [Tommy] does make a move against Michael now [that] she won’t be around — that was the only thing stopping him before,” another fan wrote.
Peaky Blinders Season 6 is coming in 2022.
