Fans and celebrities were saddened to hear about the death of actress Peggy Lipton. The Mod Squad actress passed away at the age of 72 from cancer. “She made her journey peacefully with her daughters and nieces by her side,” Lipton’s daughters Rashida and Kidada Jones said in a statement to The Los Angeles Times. “We feel so lucky for every moment we spent with her.”

Peggy Lipton was born on August 30, 1946. The Long Island, New York, native got her start in entertainment working as a teen model. After her family moved to Los Angeles in 1964, she decided to pursue an acting career.

Peggy Lipton made her acting debut in a 1965 episode of Bewitched titled “Your Witch Is Showing.” She played the role of a secretary. That same year, she appeared in an episode of Mr. Novak titled “And Then I Wrote,” in which she played the role of Selma. Lipton made her film debut in the 1967 movie Mosby’s Marauders. She played the role of Oralee Prentiss. The actress got her big break after appearing in the television series Mod Squad. She played the character Julie Barnes from 1968 to 1973. A few years later, in 1979, Lipton reprised her role in a television movie based on the show called The Return of Mod Squad.

Lipton appeared in many movies and television shows throughout her career. Some of her movie credits include War Party (1988), True Identity (1991), The Postman (1997), Intern (2000), and When in Rome (2010). Lipton’s television credits include Twin Peaks, Popular, Alias, Rules of Engagement, and Psych.

Lipton was married to Grammy-winning producer and musician Quincy Jones from 1974 to 1990. They had two daughters together, Rashida (known for her role in the NBC series Parks and Recreation) and Kidada. Lipton left her acting career so she could focus on caring for her daughters. However, she later returned to television to appear in the series Twin Peaks.
