Kim Kardashian’s newest KKW Beauty launch, “body makeup” or Body Perfecting Foundation, has people up in arms on social media. Learn why some can’t stand the product while others love it ahead.
Kim Kardashian’s Body Perfecting Foundation ‘has been’ her ‘secret for a over a decade’
In an Instagram post on June 14, Kardashian introduced the Body Perfecting Foundation to her 142 million followers. While promoting her new product, she explained how she’s used the product for more than 10 years.
“I use this when I want to enhance my skin tone or cover my psoriasis,” she wrote in the caption.
“I bruise easily and have veins and this has been my secret for over a decade. I’ve learned to live with and not be insecure of my psoriasis, but for days when I want to just cover it up I use this Body Makeup,” she continued.

“I’m so excited for you guys to try my new @kkwbeauty Body Collection. It consists of 3 different products (body make up, a liquid body shimmer and a loose shimmer powder). I use them all separately and sometimes all together depending on the look I am going for. This one shown above is the body Make Up. This is what I use most often. I don’t always like my legs to have shimmer on them. I use this when I want to enhance my skin tone or cover my psoriasis. I bruise easily and have veins and this has been my secret for over a decade. I’ve learned to live with and not be insecure of my psoriasis, but for days when I want to just cover it up I use this Body Makeup. My formula is so creamy and buildable and has a smooth satin finish. It builds easily for a more full coverage if needed. It launches 06.21.19 at [sic] 12 pm pst at kkwbeauty.com #kkwbeauty. Stay tuned for some videos showing how [sic] I use it all.”
Why people can’t stand Kim Kardashian’s newest beauty product
Following the release of Kardashian’s newest beauty product, people were quick to share their feelings about the product on Twitter.
“I can’t stop thinking about how the beauty standard for straight guys is to basically have a face and wear some clothes,” one person wrote.
Gennifer Hutchison, a writer on Better Call Saul, Breaking Bad, and The Strain replied to Kardashian’s tweet about her Body Perfecting Foundation tweeting, “Hey ladies, did you forget for .00005 seconds that your body is disgusting and its true proportions, skin tone variations, and textures must be kept hidden at all times? Here you go!”
After “getting thoughtful responses on how body makeup (which has existed for ages) is useful for folks who may have skin conditions or other reasons for wanting it,” Hutchison apologized her “ableism” and clarified her previous tweet.
“My post was meant to comment on the intense pressure on women to always look perfect no matter what,” she said.
Another Twitter user also replied directly to Kardashian’s tweet about her Body Perfecting Foundation, saying, “Why the f—k do you need to put foundation on your entire body???? Stop injecting more insecurities into women. F—k off.”
Actress Linsey Godfrey (The Bold and the Beautiful) commented on Kardashian’s newest product too.
“This is the stupidest thing I’ve ever seen. I occasionally have to wear body makeup for work & I hate it. But for me this is just another example of the Kardashian family telling women they aren’t good enough & need to hide & cover their bodies rather than celebrate them,” Godfrey tweeted along with a sad face eye-rolling emoji and a middle finger emoji.
And so did Jameela Jamil (The Good Place), who has a history of calling out the Kardashian-Jenner family on social media.
“Hard pass. God d—m the work to take it all off before bed so it doesn’t destroy your sheets… I’d rather just make peace with my million stretch marks and eczema. Taking off my mascara is enough of a pain in the a—e. Save money and time and give yourself a d—m break,” she tweeted.
Positive reviews of Kardashian’s Body Perfecting Foundation
Not all of the comments about Kardashian’s Body Perfecting Foundation have been negative. In fact, many have been positive.
“The backlash of this product is so silly. I’m extremely fair, you can see all my veins on my legs, and I’m [sic] self-conscious of my stretch marks and “strawberry legs” – a product like this gives me the confidence to show my legs and wear shorts in the summer,” wrote one Twitter user.
Another person explained how the product gave her mom the confidence to wear leg-baring clothes again.
“This is why [sic] I bought my mom the @kkwbeauty body foundation. [sic] With my mom’s sickness, she developed a skin condition and she’s been so embarrassed to even wear shorts or dresses out in public. she got so extremely happy after [sic] I applied the body foundation and [sic] I’m so emotional rn,” she tweeted along with a crying emoji.
The young woman also shared why the negative reviews of the product were making her upset.
“This is why [sic] I was getting so angry about everyone who was saying this was a stupid product. [sic] Please be mindful that not everyone has perfect skin/legs/etc. [sic] I can’t wait to take my mom out this summer and her not being [sic] self-conscious about her illness,” she tweeted with a pleading face emoji and a heart.
Whether or not you love or hate Kardashian’s Body Perfecting Foundation, it’s getting talked about, which is probably music to Kris Jenner’s ears.
