‘Percy Jackson’: What Is the Cast Of the Movies Doing Now?
Percy Jackson and the Olympians are going to get a new cast when Disney+ makes a new series based on Rick Riordan’s books. The first adaptations started Logan Lerman, Alexandra Daddario and Brandon T. Jackson. Percy Jackson and the Olympians: The Lightning Thief came out in 2010. Percy Jackson: Seas of Monsters came out in 2013.
Lerman played Percy Jackson, the descendant of Greek Gods who had a brand new adventure with his friends Annabeth (Daddario) and Grover (Jackson). Grover is Percy’s sartyr (half goat) protector. All three have done a lot since their mythological adventures. Here’s where else you’ve seen them.
Alexandra Daddario did a little of everything after ‘Percy Jackson’
Before Percy Jackson, Daddario had mainly done TV episodes and small parts in movies. After the first film she got multi-episode arcs on White Collar and Parenthood, and larger roles in Hall Pass and Texas Chainsaw 3D. She starred in the latter.
After the second movie she landed a juicy role in True Detective as Woody Harrelson’s unhinged mistress. She did two big movies with The Rock. San Andreas was a hit and it was awesome. Baywatch was a comedy misfire.
Daddario has headlined several indie films like the horror movie We Summon the Darkness and rom- Can You Keep a Secret. She’s also on the CBS All Access series Why Women Kill.
Brandon T. Jackson teamed up with comedy legends after ‘Percy Jackson’
Before Percy Jackson, Jackson had stolen scenes in Tropic Thunder as Alpa Chino. He’s the one who asked Robert Downey, Jr., “what do YOU mean, you people?” After the first Pecy Jackson film he played Martin Lawrence’s son in Big Mommas: Like Father Like Son.
After the second film, Jackson landed what should have been his big break: the lead in a Beverly Hills Cop TV series. He played Axel Foley’s nephew and Eddie Murphy costarred in the pilot to pass the torch. CBS did not pick up the series. Murphy said in a Playboy interview (via The Hollywood Reporter) that CBS had expected him to recur on the show. Jackson still acts and has two more movies coming up according to IMDB.
Logan Lerman became a leading man
When the first Percy Jackson came out, Lerman was in the running to replace Tobey Maguire as Spider-Man. Lerman himself confirmed those talks to Access Hollywood and MTV News, according to Digital Spy. Andrew Garfield got the part and Lerman went on to play D’Artagnan in The Three Musketeers.
The Perks of Being a Wallflower was the pivotal movie in Lerman’s career, leading him to major dramatic roles in Fury, Noah, Indignation, The Vanishing of Sidney Hall and End of Sentence. He still had one more Percy Jackson adventure along the way.
In 2020, Lerman played opposite the real Al Pacino in Hunters. The streaming series is about a team of Nazi hunters in the ‘70s. Lerman is also in Shirley, coming out in June.
