Pink Doesn’t Mind Her Kids Being a Part of Her Celebrity Life: ‘Their Normal Is Different’
Pink is a world-famous singer who has released hit singles such as “So What,” “Raise Your Glass,” and “Just Give Me a Reason.”
Nowadays, she is also a parent. Pink embarked on her motherhood journey 10 years ago, and she has since opened up about what life is like as a celebrity mom.
How many kids does Pink have?
Pink is married to former motorcross racer Carey Hart. The two of them started dating in 2001 and tied the knot in 2006. They had a brief separation in 2018 but reunited in 2010.
Pink and Hart have two kids together: daughter Willow (born 2011) and son Jameson (born 2016).
Pink doesn’t expect her kids’ childhood to be exactly like hers
Pink had an ordinary childhood. She grew up in Pennsylvania as the daughter of a nurse and insurance salesman.
Meanwhile, Pink’s children have celebrities as parents. Instead of trying to force them to have an upbringing similar to hers, Pink seems to be incorporating some parts of her celebrity life into her parenting.
Speaking to People recently, she talked about the experience of taking her kids on tour with her.
“There’s not a lot of women headlining stadiums and doing two nights at Wembley Stadium while having a family on the road,” she said. “[Director Michael Gracey] had never seen a mom changing diapers while having a creative meeting, and just the way that this big life intersects with being a normal, crazy family — there’s something fascinating about that.”
Even so, Pink acknowledges that, in many ways, her kids are still just like any other ones. She added, “Their normal is different: We go on tour and have a ball pit in Mommy’s dressing room. But they are normal kids. Jameson wants to be an astronaut. Willow does gymnastics and reads Harry Potter and is convinced she’s going to Hogwarts when she’s 11, and I don’t have the heart to tell her that she’s not.”
Pink has shared how motherhood changed her
Having children is often a life-changing experience for most people, and Pink is no exception.
In 2019, she told the Today show of how much motherhood has changed her, “I’m much more open. I’m much more accepting of myself. I’m much more thoughtful. I plan more. I have to. I have to figure out the balance.”
Throughout her career, Pink is known for having a rebellious streak. However, she does not think she stopped being rebellious after having children. Rather, she channels these feelings in different ways.
“You start to focus less on what’s wrong for you and more on what’s wrong for the next generation,” Pink told Redbook Magazine in 2018. “It mobilizes you. Some moms channel that into the PTA, and other moms channel it into marching for women’s rights, so moms need to be more rebellious than ever.”
