Ree Drummond is a big star on the Food Network, but not everyone is a fan of hers. Some viewers were fans of Ree but changed their minds about The Pioneer Woman star. Here’s what some people have to say about Ree Drummond and her Food Network show.

Some fans say Ree isn’t the farm girl they thought she was

Although The Pioneer Woman star Ree Drummond portrays herself as a regular person just like her viewers, there are some fans who feel that she’s not. Over the years, as her success has grown, the Food Network star has built a media empire that made her very rich. Her books, Walmart collaborations, restaurants, magazine, hotel, and more have resulted in a nice nest egg. Ree Drummond’s net worth is an estimated $50 million.

Not everyone is familiar with Ree’s back story and the fact the “accidental country girl,” grew up in an affluent family. One Reddit user who used to read The Pioneer Woman blog feels the star isn’t relatable because of her wealth. The Redditor said she stopped following the blog after she found out Ree was “loaded.” This is what Reddit user JavascriptGlitch had to say:

I used to read her blog back near the beginning when it was more about telling stories. I bailed out around the time when they were building The Lodge and it became glaringly obvious that they were loaded and not just some normal farm family. That was around the same time as I found the Pioneer Woman Sux and the Marlboro Woman websites and my eyes were opened!

Ree Drummond’s recipes have gotten “lazy” according to some viewers

Others aren’t pleased with Ree’s recent recipes. She has been accused of being too relaxed about the meals she cooks. One disgruntled Redditor expressed her dismay:

I used to really love her stuff a few years back before the show and before I knew anything about her personal life. She could be a little Paula Deen-ish with all the “use some extra butter/heavy cream/cheese” tidbits… Plus, her recipes have been so lazy lately! Some of her latest: saltines baked in melted butter, peanut butter and jelly on English muffins, sliced apples on English muffins, iced coffee, caprese skewers, chicken breasts topped with pepperoni. Groundbreaking.

Some think Ree got her show because the Food Network was trying to fill air time

Although Ree has a devoted following, some feel she doesn’t deserve to have a show on the Food Network. One Quora user named Frederick Wilson feels Ree’s cooking skills are average and the Food Network is simply trying to fill space. “The only reason that she was ever promoted to celebrity status is because the Food Network was looking for a blue collar to balance the Barefoot Contessa. Her recipes are not significantly different than you will find in any general-purpose cook book or by doing a simple google search,” he said.

Some are annoyed by Ladd Drummond, too

On Reddit, some Food Network fans expressed their dislike for Ree’s husband, Ladd. One Reddit user was annoyed by Ladd’s food choices. Ladd isn’t a fan of vegetables (he’s more of a meat and potatoes guy), so Ree sometimes pokes fun at him. The Reddit user, who goes by the name u/alyssadujour, says Ladd eats “like a 3-year-old,” and should “grow up.”
