PlayStation State of Play March 2022 Start Time, How to Watch, and What to Expect
Another State of Play event is right around the corner. PlayStation announced on March 8 that it would host a livestream event the following day with a focus on new PS4 and PS5 titles. Here’s everything to know about the PlayStation State of Play March 2022 event, including start time, how to watch, and what announcements fans can expect.
PlayStation State of Play March 2022 start time
For those new to State of Play, these Sony broadcasts occur sporadically throughout each year and focus specifically on PlayStation announcements. Viewers often see trailers for brand new or recently-revealed titles, as well as updates to already-released games. Plus, fans might sometimes see announcements regarding the latest hardware or general company updates.
According to the PlayStation Blog, the next State of Play event will occur on Wednesday, March 9, 2022. The event will begin at 2 p.m. PT, which translates to 5 p.m. ET or 11 p.m. CET. However, PlayStation typically uploads the stream link early so fans can wait and chat together ahead of the premiere. The event will apparently last around 20 minutes.
Fans can watch the stream below.
How to watch the new PlayStation State of Play
PlayStation typically houses the State of Play event on its YouTube and Twitch channels, so fans can watch the event there. Additionally, many content creators and media outlets will likely co-stream the event. Those who cannot tune in live will be able to watch the stream from start to finish once PlayStation completes the presentation.
PlayStation promises PS4 and PS5 ‘reveals and updates’ during the livestream
This State of Play event will specifically focus on “new reveals and eye-catching updates for PS5 and PS4 titles,” according to the blog. Unfortunately, that does not include any “PlayStation VR2 titles or hardware.” On the bright side, that could mean PSVR fans will receive their own event later.
The event will mostly showcase announcements from Japanese publishers. However, PlayStation did say some global announcements will be included. The gaming giant hasn’t shared any specifics, but a few Japanese publishers come to mind, like Square Enix and Capcom.
Many fans have already speculated that Square Enix’s Final Fantasy XVI will appear at the event. Back in December, producer Naoki Yoshida revealed on Twitter that the game had been delayed. Yoshida promised to have updates during a “big reveal” in spring 2022.
Capcom could also have announcements about Resident Evil Village or Resident Evil 4 Remake.
