From the second Nintendo announced Pokémon Legends: Arceus, everyone said it reminded them of The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild. The massive open world, the cel-shaded graphics, and even the stealth moves seem very reminiscent of Link’s adventure to save Hyrule and Princess Zelda. However, it quickly became old for gamers to hear, annoying them when Twitch Streamer Pokimane said Pokémon Legends: Arceus Pokédex and story (or lack of story) makes her “think of Breath of the Wild.

Pokimane reacted to a ‘Pokémon Legends: Arceus’ trailer as having ‘Breath of the Wild’ vibes’

During one of her Twitch streams, Pokimane, age 25, reacted to a Pokémon Legends: Arceus trailer. Before Turtwig and Shinx and other Pokémon characters even left the screen, Pokimane already felt The Legend of Zelda’s influence.

“This is so Breath of the Wild vibes,” Pokimane said. “When I look at this, I think of Breath of the Wild.”

Pokimane has become something of a lightning rod for controversy and outrage in the past. However, when it came to the Pokémon Legends: Arceus, she appeared much preferred Link fighting Guardians in Breath of the Wild.

“Listen, this might be ignorant,” Pokimane said. “It’s just my opinion, that doesn’t mean it’s right or anything like that. Personally speaking, I want a Pokemon game that will excite me. That’s not just about filling my 20 million Pokedex, that’s not about catching every single Pokemon again, and just perfecting that one mechanic.”

Pokimane claimed ‘The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild’ had better graphics than ‘Pokémon Legends: Arceus’

Nintendo crammed Pokémon Legends: Arceus with dozens and dozens of Pokémon from Uxie to Cherrim, but Pokimane wanted quality over quantity. She compared the graphic between the two games but ultimately preferred Breath of the Wild over Pokémon Legends: Arceus again.

“Yeah, Breath of the Wild does have better graphics,” she said, complimenting how Nintendo designed The Legend of Zelda game.

The textures, the pixels, Pokémon Legends: Arceus did not impress Pokimane. She really wants the Pokémon series to break away from the ‘Catch ‘em all’ idea to give players a new experience.

“I want a new storyline, I want something spicy, I want drama,” Pokimane confessed. “When I watch this, they the most minute things and it doesn’t really get me hyped to play more.”

However, she still has a love for the series. She has even done cosplays as a Pokémon trainer on the official Pokimane Twitter. Pokémon has appeared in everything from Super Smash Bros. to arena fighting games, and she really wants the series to branch out more.

The Twitch Streamer does not think it is a bad game, but she wants more from the Nintendo series

While Pokimane had a lot of critiques of Pokémon Legends: Arceus and its similarities to The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild, she clarifies that she does not this it as a bad game.

“I’m not saying it’s a bad game,” she said. “I’m just expressing what I would like to see in a Pokémon game and what would make me want to play it. They’re kind of doing the same mechanic, you’re just catching Pokémon every game, and maybe that’s exciting for some … but I want something new.”
