‘Power Book II: Ghost’: Alix Lapri Confirmed a Major Fan Theory About Lauren
Power Book II: Ghost Season 3 is currently being filmed in New York City. At the end of the second season, Tariq St. Patrick (Michael Rainey Jr.) was shocked to learn that his ex-girlfriend Lauren Baldwin (Paige Hurd) had been killed in a car accident. However, he never suspected that his best friends Effie (Alix Lapri) and Brayden (Gianni Paolo) had anything to do with it.
Lapri has just confirmed a major fan theory about Lauren’s demise.
Effie’s backstory will be revealed in ‘Power Book II: Ghost’ Season 3
Effie has been around since the original Power. Though she attended high school with Tariq and Brayden, fans really don’t know much about her or where she comes from.
“Effie’s mom is a mess. But I’ll tell you about that later,” Power Universe Courtney Kemp revealed in a 2020 Instagram Live. “And if you guys remember, close readers of the series, Effie’s brother is dead. He was murdered, so keep that in mind.”
Kemp has promised fans that we will find out a lot more about Effie in Ghost Season 3.
Alix Lapri confirmed a major fan theory about Lauren
In the second season of Ghost, Professor Carrie Milgram (Melanie Liburd) lured Lauren into helping the Feds go after Tariq and the Tejada family. For the Tejadas and Effie, this was unacceptable. As a result, she and Brayden lured Lauren away from the city, and it was presumed that Effie had killed the Stansfield University student. As we know, Tariq had simply tasked Brayden with helping Lauren flee.
Though we never saw Effie kill Lauren, Lapri now confirms what happened to the character. “Look, I’m going to leave this up to the viewers, but I’mma say this, Effie don’t miss. Alright? Period,” the actor said on The Wayne Ayers Podcast.
Now that we know pretty certainly that Effie killed Lauren, her relationship with Tariq is going to change drastically.
Effie may not be as trustworthy as Tariq thinks
We can’t imagine how Tariq will feel once he learns that Effie and Brayden had a hand in Lauren’s death. In fact, it feels very much like he’s walking in his father’s footsteps. Moreover, this isn’t the first time Effie has betrayed Tariq. When she was at Choate with him and Brayden, and they cut her out of their business, she betrayed them and got them expelled from the prep school.
Now that she’s keeping the secret about Lauren’s demise to herself, it’s clear that she’s always going to put herself first. During season 2, Kemp pointed out Effie’s deception during an Instagram Live. In one episode, Effie asked Tariq how closely she would be working with Cane Tejada (Woody McClain).
From our perspective, it looks like Effie could be rid of Tariq and Brayden at any moment.
