‘Power Book II: Ghost’: Brayden’s Future on the Show Confirmed
Fans may be wondering about Brayden Weston’s future on Power Book II: Ghost following the season 2 finale. The character, portrayed by Gianni Paolo, has been a major part of Tariq St. Patrick’s life, helping him build CourseCorrect and manage things with the Tejadas. But now that he’s been pulled from Stansfield University, we wonder if it’ll have any impact on his involvement in the show.
Will Brayden be in Power Book II: Ghost Season 3? Show creator Courtney Kemp teased that he’s in trouble.
A recap of what happened to Brayden in ‘Power Book II: Ghost’ Season 2
The latest season of Power Book II: Ghost chronicled the aftermath of Jabari Reynolds’ death. The investigation led to police discovering the drug ring on campus and, eventually, arresting Tariq (Michael Rainey Jr.) for the murders of both Jabari (Justin McManus) and Officer Danilo Ramirez (Shalim Ortiz).
In court, Tariq was surprised to see Brayden being called to the stand to testify. He believed Brayden had become a witness for the prosecution and would be speaking out against him. But in a shocking twist, Brayden claimed responsibility for CourseCorrect, prompting the judge to dismiss the case against Tariq.
Back in their dorm room, Brayden informed Tariq that, as a result of what happened, his father had decided to take him out of Stansfield and move him closer to home. Brayden then left campus with his bags in tow.
Kemp on Brayden’s future on the show
Though he and Tariq are now distanced from one another, that’s not the last you’ll see of him. Kemp told Entertainment Weekly that next season will specifically focus on what he, Effie (Alix Lapri), and Cane Tejada (Woody McClain) did to Lauren Baldwin (Paige Hurd).
“What I would say is, Effie and Brayden have a huge secret that they have to keep from Tariq,” Kemp told the magazine of season 3. “Cane is also part of that secret, but it’s really about Effie and Brayden and what their relationship will be with Tariq, given whatever happened onscreen with Lauren. What has happened to Lauren, as you discover going forward, will have a seismic effect on the relationships of our three musketeers.”
Kemp noted the situation will also impact Tariq’s relationship with the other Tejadas due to Cane’s involvement.
“There will be fault lines drawn between Tariq and his friends, for various reasons. And then those will affect some fault lines that will be drawn within the Tejada family,” she continued. “There will be a series of earthquakes, and then a series of aftershocks that will shake the foundation and remake the series in a really sort of impactful way. That’s season 3.”
