‘Power Book II: Ghost’: Effie’s Backstory Will Be Revealed in Season 3
Effie Morales (Alix Lapri) is coming into her own on Power Book II: Ghost. Though she has been treated as more of a sideline character in the past, Tariq St. Patrick (Michael Rainey Jr.) and Brayden Westen (Gianni Paolo) have quickly learned how much they need her.
Still, so much of who Effie is has remained a mystery. But it looks like she’s about to be put in the spotlight in season 3.
Effie is one of the only people Tariq trusts in ‘Power Book II: Ghost’
When it comes to people that are in his corner, Tariq is quickly running out of options. However, in episode 206 “What’s Free?” when he was released from prison, Tariq soon learned that Effie might be one of the only people who have his back. In fact, there is a reason why she has a much bigger presence in season 3, but it might not be for the reasons that fans think.”
“Effie Morales, a Yale student no stranger to drama,” her official character description reads. “And her quest for financial freedom via drug dealing leads her to big competition — her former Choate classmates, Tariq and Brayden. But when Effie decides to join forces with Tariq and Brayden again, she will be forced to determine where her loyalties lie — with herself and herself only, or with people who have shown their true colors time and time again.”
Effie’s backstory will be revealed in season 3
Power Universe creator Courtney Kemp has always said that one of her favorite characters of all time is Effie. During a recent Instagram Live, she also explained that much more of Effie’s backstory will be revealed in Ghost Season 3. She also cautioned fans to pay close attention to Effie. As much as the Yale student seems down for Tariq and as much as she’s been willing to help Diana (LaToya Tonoedo), Effie is always about herself first.
“Effie’s mom is a mess. But I’ll tell you about that later,” Kemp revealed in a 2020 Instagram Live. “And if you guys remember, close readers of the series, Effie’s brother is dead. He was murdered, so keep that in mind.”
It looks like the third season of Ghost will reveal much more about the character, and we can’t wait until then.
Will Tariq and Effie end up together?
Since he’s been out of prison, the only people that Tariq has confided in are Brayden and Effie. In contrast, Lauren (Paige Hurd) has taken a step back away from him, causing him to end their relationship. To that end, fans are convinced that Effie and Tariq are the perfect match, provided he and Lauren don’t reconnect in the future.
“Angela saw positive in Ghost which is a big part of the reason why he chose her over Tasha,” a Redditor said via Express. “As far as we know right now, Lauren seems to be the only positive one over Effie and Diana. Effie is mainly the balance but Lauren just tends to be more on the positive side. Yes, we are only coming into season 2 but I can see this playing out. So basically I’m saying Effie will be the long-run relationship but Lauren will be the winner in the end.”
Still, there is a lot more to Effie that meets the eye, and we have a feeling that she’s hiding some things from Tariq as well.
