Power Book II: Ghost follows Tariq St. Patrick (Michael Rainey Jr.) after the death of his father, notorious drug kingpin, James “Ghost” St. Patrick (Omari Hardwick). Over the six seasons of the original Power, Tariq grew to hate his father after learning about his double life and the way that his decisions hurt their family. However, now that Tariq has followed in his father’s profession, he’s finding that he’s much more similar to Ghost than he ever imagined.

Now, Rainey is talking about the biggest similarity between the father and son.

Tariq will go through some major changes in ‘Power Book II: Ghost’ Season 3

The third season of Power Book II: Ghost is currently filming in New York City. Despite his best intentions, Tariq has found himself still entangled with the Tejada crime family. Though his family is safe and sound, he had blood on his hands amid the death of his ex-girlfriend, Lauren Baldwin (Paige Hurd). Moreover, his two closest friends Effie (Alix Lapri) and Brayden (Gianni Paolo) are hiding things from him.

In season 3, Tariq is going to go through some major changes.  “He’s going to go through some changes,” Power Universe creator Courtney Kemp explained on a Feb. 8 Instagram Live. “He’s going to be really alone.”

Tari has also been slowly transforming into the last person he wanted to be like, his late father, Ghost.

Michael Rainey Jr. highlighted the biggest similarity between Tariq and Ghost

From the moment he discovered who his father really was and especially after he found out about Ghost’s affair with Angela (Lela Loren), he had it out for his father, eventually leading him to shoot Ghost in cold blood at his nightclub, Truth.

Now, Rainey is highlighting the biggest similarity between the father/son. “You know Tariq, he’s like Ghost, he always finds a way to handle what he has to handle,” he told Express.

In a recent Instagram Live, Kemp explained things further. “A lot of you guys are constantly talking about Ghost coming back,” she said. “Without going into super detail, what I will definitely say is that part of the reason why I started writing this show was about my father’s death. The thing about that and what I’m really trying to demonstrate is that Tariq is Ghost on earth. Tariq is Ghost alive. He is learning things and changing before our very eyes. Tariq is growing into a man.”

Is Tariq more dangerous than Ghost?

Like Ghost, we know that Tariq is willing to do whatever it takes to protect himself and the people that he loves. He’s killed his father in cold blood and he’s also responsible for the death of his father and his professor Jabari Reynolds (Justin MacManus).

However, Kemp says he hasn’t quite gotten to the level of his father Ghost who had more than just a few deaths on his hand.

“I don’t know if I believe that Tariq is more dangerous than Ghost in a street way,” Kemp said on an Instagram Live. “I do think that Tariq has almost a better ability to hide in plain sight then his father did. He has a whole life ahead of him. Remember, Ghost didn’t have access to the same level of education or the same level of help.”
