‘Power Book II: Ghost’ Season 2 so far

The second season of Power Book II: Ghost begins almost immediately after Jabari’s death — the result of an attempt to blackmail Tariq into letting him write a book about his criminal activities. Cane Tejada was the first to shoot after overhearing Jabari questioning Tariq about the Tejada family, before Tariq finished him off.

Tariq assures Cane that he can cover up the murder, but police gain on him after combing through Jabari’s phone records and finding Tariq’s number was the last one he texted.

As the investigation continues, Tariq’s plan, as seen in the trailer for the second episode, is to pin the murder on someone else. The sooner he does, the quicker he can get back to business. He needs the money to pay Davis MacLean for information on his mother but also to help his sister Yaz, who appears to be taken away by authorities. Cane and Diana Tejada are also ready to branch out as Monet warns Cane to remember his roots.

Michael Rainey Jr. on the second season of ‘Power Book II: Ghost’

As fans await the next episode of Power Book II: Ghost, Digital Spy caught up with Michael Rainey Jr. (Tariq St. Patrick) to discuss what’s to come from his character. He said that Tariq will have a “hard” time trying to deal with killing Jabari while juggling all these different things, like school and drug dealing.

“Obviously he’s done this before, it’s not his first time,” he shared. “But he’s just like, he’s a young kid still at the end of the day… These are the type of things that are gonna weigh on him. Especially with him having to navigate through the whole entire school thing and then the streets and then, you know, dealing with Yasmine and grandma and all of that is just like, it’s hard for him.”

He continued: “He has so many things weighing on him, it’s like he doesn’t even know what to pay attention to sometimes. Like he doesn’t know how to balance it. But then again, like he’s Tariq he’s resilient, so he figures a way to you know, to balance everything and he does pretty well.”
