‘Power Book II: Ghost’ Season 3 to Bring Back an Original ‘Power’ Character
Starz‘s hit drama series Power Book II: Ghost is back with a bang. 10 months after leaving off with a cliffhanger, the show picked up in November of 2021 as Tariq St. Patrick tries to cover up his involvement in Jabari Reynolds’ murder. It seems as though he’s trapped from all sides, but viewers have also learned to never underestimate Ghost’s son.
Only a couple of episodes remain until the conclusion of Power Book II: Ghost Season 2. But luckily, the next one is in the works — and with it will come the return of a character from the original Power series.
Work on ‘Power Book II: Ghost’ Season 3 has begun
Starz greenlit another season of the show in December, after the series scored strong ratings in the season 2 premiere.
“The continued success and cultural resonance of the Power universe is unprecedented, and fans are clearly still hungry for more Power Book II: Ghost,” Starz president and CEO Jeffrey Hirsch said in a statement (via Essence). “We’re excited for the third season of the star-studded series to get into production early next year just ahead of the debut Power Book IV: Force, the fourth installment in the rapidly expanding franchise.”
Now, with production is kicking off, casting information is rolling out. Michael Rainey Jr., Method Man, and Mary J. Blige are some of the actors you can almost certainly count on returning, as well as a few others.
‘Power Book II: Ghost’ Season 3 to reintroduce this character
Deadline reports that the next season will also feature Monique Curnen in a regular role. The actor famously played Blanca Rodriguez, an NYPD detective who vigorously pursued the St. Patrick family in Power before switching careers. She appeared briefly in the first season of Ghost and will return in the next one, “more determined than ever to deal with the unfinished business of her past.”
That’s another bit of bad news for Tariq. But Blanca should know that he’s kind of a master at deceiving authorities and getting himself out of the messiest of situations — just like his father.
Deadline also reported the casting of two other actors. David Walton is set to appear as Lucas Weston, “an adventure-seeking, left-leaning high-level executive at his family’s Wall Street firm.” And Moriah Brown will appear as Kiki Travis, an “Ivy League-educated” vice president of a Wall Street firm, who “doesn’t come from privilege but is making her own way in the world of the business elite.”
What’s the release date for the next season?
It’s unclear when the new season will air, but a late 2022 return seems possible based on the show’s patterns. The current season of Ghost will run until Feb. 6 — the same day as the premiere of Tommy Egan’s spinoff, Power Book IV: Force. Check that show out on Starz.
