‘Power Book II: Ghost’: Tariq Will Need a New Plan to Escape the Tejada Family
Power Book II: Ghost Season 2 ended with a bang, and the third season is currently filming in New York City. Ghost follows Tariq St. Patrick (Michael Rainey Jr.) as he tries to navigate his life as a college student and a drug dealer. Thus far Tariq has found himself entangled with the Tejada family, who sell him the drugs he distributes on campus.
Tejada matriarch Monet Tejada (Mary J. Blige) rules her three children, Cane (Woody McClain), Diana (LaToya Tonodeo), and Dru (Lovell Adams-Gray) with a firm grip. However, things have changed drastically since her husband, Lorenzo (Berto Colon) has been released from prison. Now, Tariq is going to need to find a way to escape the clutches of the Tejadas for good.
Tariq’s plan to leave the drug game failed in ‘Power Book II: Ghost’ Season 2
Despite finding success with his drug business, Tariq certainly doesn’t love being entangled with the Tejada family and at the beck and call of Monet. At the end of the second season of Ghost, Tariq blackmailed Mecca (Daniel Sunjata) for $2 million. He learned that Mecca aka Dante Spears was “the GOAT of snitching.” In order to keep his secret safe, Tariq attempted to extort him. However, Monet shot her lover before Mecca could hand the money over to Tariq.
Now, without his exit plan and with Brayden (Gianni Paolo) leaving Stansfield after defending Tariq on the stand, the college student and drug dealer is going to have to look in a new direction. It also doesn’t help that he’s found himself entangled with both Diana and Effie (Alix Lapri).
Tariq is certainly going to have to think outside of the box if he’s ever going to stand on his own.
Tariq will need a new plan to escape the Tejada family
There is a theory swirling that in order for Tariq to finally be free of the Tejadas he’s going to have to kill Monet and Lorenzo.
A Reddit user via Express is convinced that things will play out for him just how Ghost eliminated Breeze and Kanan to take over their business.
“As for Tariq, even though his dumba– choose to enter the game through will and manipulation, I feel that he will want out the game toward the end of Power and he will have to take out Monet and Lorenzo Tejada to do that, since they basically own him and he’s their main moneymaker right now,” they speculated.
From where we’re sitting, Tariq might not even have to do much since the Tejadas are on the verge of imploding from within. Diana exposed her entire family and we also know that Lorenzo accidentally killed Zeke (Daniel Bellomy) thinking it was Mecca.
Power Universe creator Courtney Kemp has promised that there is going to be some major fallout from that in season 3.

Filming for the third season of Ghost is currently filming in New York. “To be honest with you, I have no clue,” he told PopSugar. “I just know that Tariq’s going to be making some money and obviously he’s going to be fighting a lot, because he’s trying to figure out what’s going on with Lauren and how her situation went because he doesn’t really know what happened. Then, like we said, between Brayden and Effie, they’re trying to hold that truth for him. So that’s going to be another thing to unfold. It’s going to be a lot going on.”
