The end goal for Tariq St. Patrick is to reunite with his mother, Tasha, but getting there will be complicated. In addition to the obvious challenges, show creator Courtney Kemp teased that Tommy Egan will eventually become a problem for Tariq again.

Tommy hasn’t forgotten or forgiven Tariq

In the latest season of Power Book II: Ghost, viewers watched as Tariq (Michael Rainey Jr.) tried to adjust to life without Tasha (Naturi Naughton) following her placement in the federal witness protection program. He attempted to get custody of Yasmine (Paris Morgan) after their grandmother was deemed unfit, but with so much already on his plate, he realized she would be better off elsewhere.

In the finale, he arranged for Yasmine to move with Tasha, who was revealed to be living in West Virginia as Vanessa Edwards. Tameika Washington (Quincy Tyler Bernstine) helped relocate them to Indiana and barred them from any contact with Tariq.

Kemp said she thinks Tariq and Tasha could be together again one day. But there will be complications.

“Tommy (Joseph Sikora) is going to make that difficult,” she told TVLine when asked for her thoughts on a Tariq and Tasha reunion. “He’s also got his own show. He’s busy, but he hasn’t forgotten any of what went down.”

“And also, Tariq has to finish school in order to get his payday from his dad,” she continued. “So yes, there’s a version where they’re all together and they have the money, but Tariq has to finish college first. He’s got a lot to do between now and then.”

Kemp also teased Tariq’s other relationships, particularly with Effie Morales (Alix Lapri) and Brayden Weston (Gianni Paolo).

“Effie and Brayden have a huge secret that they have to keep from Tariq,” she told Entertainment Weekly. “Cane (Woody McClain) is also part of that secret. But it’s really about Effie and Brayden and what their relationship will be with Tariq, given whatever happened onscreen with Lauren. What has happened to Lauren [Baldwin] (Paige Hurd), as you discover going forward, will have a seismic effect on the relationships of our three musketeers.”

Kemp hinted that Cane’s involvement would also complicate things for Tariq and the rest of the Tejada family.

“There will be fault lines drawn between Tariq and his friends, for various reasons. And then those will affect some fault lines that will be drawn within the Tejada family,” she added. “There will be a series of earthquakes, and then a series of aftershocks that will shake the foundation and remake the series in a really sort of impactful way. That’s season 3.”
