‘Power Book III: Raising Kanan’ Season 2 Confirmed for Summer 2022 Release
The Power spinoff Power Book III: Raising Kanan has followed antagonist Kanan Stark in the years before his tragic murder. At 15, he becomes involved in the drug operation run by his family, gradually becoming one of the most violent and ruthless criminals on the streets. As many will recall, the show left off in September of 2021 with a major cliffhanger. But it shouldn’t be too much longer until Power Book III: Raising Kanan Season 2.
‘Power Book III: Raising Kanan’ Season 2 to hit to Starz in 2022
In the past, the Power spinoffs usually came on right after one another. This naturally had people thinking that Raising Kanan Season 2 would immediately follow Tommy Egan’s Power Book IV: Force, which is now airing on Starz. But unfortunately, it has been delayed.
50 Cent, an executive producer on the shows, previously said the production schedule had changed because of how long it took Starz to renew Force, which was a lot slower compared to the other series. While he did not share a release date for Raising Kanan, a new teaser for the Power Universe confirms the show will be back in the summer of 2022.
Where did ‘Power Book III: Raising Kanan’ leave off?
Kanan spent the latest episode in hiding after the attempted hit on Detective Malcolm Howard. Raquel Thomas had sent Kanan to kill him, leading him to believe Howard was a threat their organization. But Howard was only trying to connect with Kanan after learning he was his birth father. Fortunately for him, he lived. Howard woke up just as Kanan was crossing into Maryland with Symphony Bosket.
When asked about season 2, Mekai Curtis (Kanan Stark), told Entertainment Weekly that it’s “just the continuation of actions and consequences.“
“There’s going to be some stuff happening that, again, you’re going to see how it molds and shapes Kanan and what it does to his psyche,” he continued. “The family’s in an entirely new space and different dynamic now, so it’s them navigating that and figuring out where they can step, where they can’t step. It’s a lot of complicated things going on. It’s wild.”
‘Power Book II: Ghost’ will also be back ‘soon’
When season 2 is complete, Starz is expected to air the third season of Power Book II: Ghost. Beginning after Ghost’s death in Power, the series follows his son, Tariq St. Patrick, as he steps up to try and support his family. When money becomes an issue, Tariq starts to sell drugs just like his father, sending him down a very dangerous path.
While the exact release date for Power Book II: Ghost Season 3 is still unclear, the new teaser confirms that it’ll be back “soon.” The show has been filming since January, even before it finished its second season.
