Power Book III: Raising Kanan acts as the prequel in the Power Universe. Set in Queens, New York in the ’90s the series follows 15-year-old Kanan Stark (Mekai Curtis). Though we recognize the name from Curtis “50 Cent” Jackson‘s portrayal of the adult version of the drug dealer, in Raising Kanan we meet his mother, Raq (Patina Miller), and his uncles Marvin (London Brown) and Lou Lou (Malcolm Mays), who run a drug organization.

Since all of the Power Universe shows are connected, fans believe some characters from Raising Kanan could appear on other shows.

Crossovers in the ‘Power’ Universe are always on the table

When the Power spinoffs were first announced, fans anticipated crossovers.

“When we first conceptualized the Power Universe, we definitely had a plan for going back and forth between different shows,” Power Universe creator Courtney Kemp revealed on Instagram. “I had this great, like, sort of construction where Tate was going to come off an ‘Influence’ episode and go to Chicago and run into Tommy, and there was going to be a Tariq piece of all of that. Like we really did think about doing all those things. And I guess if that happens or things like that happen now, going forward, it’ll be up to Brett [Mahoney] and Gary [Lennon], and I won’t be quite as involved in all of that.”

Even before Kemp exited Lionsgate for Netflix she said that she was open to spinoffs, but she also thought it was imperative for each Power show to stand on its own.

These ‘Power Book III: Raising Kanan’ characters could show up on ‘Ghost’ or ‘Force’

As we know, Power Book III: Raising Kanan is set in the ’90s while Power Book II: Ghost and Power Book IV: Force are set in the present day. Therefore, if characters from Kanan are going to appear in Ghost and Force they would be much older versions of themselves.

As we know, Kanan (Curtis “50 Cent” Jackson) and Jukebox (Anika Noni Rose) died in the original Power. However, there is still some speculation that Raq is still alive. In the original series when he was released from prison, Kanan spoke briefly about going to see his mother. However, he could have also meant visiting her grave site.

If we’re thinking about it, we believe that there is only one person from Kanan’s teen years that could have made it to the present day and that’s his uncle Lou Lou. While Raq is vicious and determined, and Marvin is chaotic and hot-tempered, we think Lou Lou’s level-headedness and his desire to get out of the drug game may have saved him from an early death.

There could be a crossover between ‘Ghost’ and ‘Force’

Though they are set in the same time period, Ghost and Force aren’t exactly on the same timeline. Force takes place just after Ghost’s death in Power and Ghost is a few months to a year ahead. However, since Tommy made an appearance in season 1 of Ghost, a crossover is possible.

“I can’t tell you [if Tariq will seek out Tommy], but you know he’s definitely going to need uncle Tommy’s help at a point,” Sikora said via Express. Since Ghost and Force are set in the same time period, this doesn’t seem too far-fetched, especially since Tommy appeared in the season one finale of the show.
