‘Power Book IV: Force’: Everything to Know About the Show Before the Premiere
It’s been a while since Tommy Egan was last on our TV screens. But he’ll be back in Power Book IV: Force, the fourth chapter in the Power universe. Set after Ghost’s death in Power, the show follows Tommy in the aftermath as he rebuilds the business from the ground up. It stars Joseph Sikora as the New York City gangster and will premiere on Starz on Sunday, Feb. 6. Find everything else we know about the show, below.
What is ‘Power Book IV: Force’ about?
In a discussion on Instagram, Sikora confirmed the show would begin after Tommy left Tariq St. Patrick at the graveyard and fled New York in Power Book II: Ghost Season 1. While he planned to move to California, he makes a stop in Chicago “to close an old wound that’s been haunting him for decades,” according to the logline (via Deadline). But the trip “turns into a labyrinth of family secrets and lies Tommy thought were long buried.”
“One step leads to another and Tommy quickly finds himself in Chicago’s drug game, inserting himself between the city’s two biggest crews,” the statement continues. “In a city divided by race, Tommy straddles the line, ultimately becoming the lynchpin that not only unites them – but holds the power to watch them crumble.”
“Tommy uses his outsider status to his advantage, breaking all the local rules and rewriting them on his quest to become the biggest drug dealer in Chicago.”
Sikora teased more details about the show on Instagram Live.
“What you can expect on the show is a lot more of the same from Tommy,” he said, “but he’s got nothing. So remember, he left New York with nothing. He left New York with a bunch of money, some guns, some burners, and that’s it. Just everything he had on his person. So you’re gonna watch Tommy rebuild himself in real-time.”
More ‘Power’ characters could appear in the show
When it comes to the cast of Power Book IV: Force, Sikora appears to be the only original Power character in a regular role.
He’ll be joined by a string of new faces, including Isaac Keys (Get Shorty), Kris D. Lofton (Empire), Lili Simmons (Ray Donovan), Gabrielle Ryan (The Haves and the Have Nots), Shane Harper (Hightown), and Anthony Fleming III (Prison Break), among others. But Sikora has hinted at cameos by original characters, including Tariq (Michael Rainey Jr.).
Other actors have also signaled interest in appearing on the show, including Shane Johnson, who plays attorney Cooper Saxe. “What would be cool is if I bounced into some of the other spin-offs,” he told the blog Tea with Tia when discussing his character. “Like if I manage to bounce into Tommy’s show … That’s actually a legitimate situation, which very well could happen.” But to be clear, nothing has been confirmed.
