‘Power Book IV: Force’ Star Joseph Sikora Teases New Season 1 Details Ahead of Premiere
There are only days to go until the premiere of Power Book IV: Force, the fourth chapter in the Power universe. Starring Joseph Sikora, the show follows Tommy Egan in the aftermath of Ghost’s death in Power. Yearning for a fresh start, he decides to leave New York for California. But he makes a stop in Chicago first to settle some family business.
Ahead of the premiere, Sikora hopped on Instagram Live for a discussion, where he opened up about the show and what fans can expect to see this season.
What is ‘Power Book IV: Force’ about exactly?
Sikora previously said on live that Force would begin after Tommy left Tariq St. Patrick in the graveyard in Power Book II: Ghost Season 1. He heads to Chicago “to close an old wound that’s been haunting him for decades,” according to the logline (via Deadline). But the trip “turns into a labyrinth of family secrets and lies Tommy thought were long buried.”
“One step leads to another and Tommy quickly finds himself in Chicago’s drug game, inserting himself between the city’s two biggest crews,” the statement continues. “In a city divided by race, Tommy straddles the line, ultimately becoming the lynchpin that not only unites them – but holds the power to watch them crumble.”
“Tommy uses his outsider status to his advantage, breaking all the local rules and rewriting them on his quest to become the biggest drug dealer in Chicago,” the statement concludes.
“What you can expect on the show is a lot more of the same from Tommy,” Sikora said on Instagram Live, “but he’s got nothing. So remember, he left New York with nothing. He left New York with a bunch of money, some guns, some burners, and that’s it. Just everything he had on his person. So you’re gonna watch Tommy rebuild himself in real-time.”
Expect crossovers in ‘Power Book IV: Force’
Sikora spoke further about the show on Instagram Live in January. He teased the “phenomenal” cast — rattling off names such as Isaac Keys (Get Shorty), Gabrielle Ryan (The Haves and the Have Nots), Shane Harper (Hightown), and Anthony Fleming III — and even some crossovers.
“The Power universe that [50 Cent] and Courtney Kemp set up is all interconnected, so you never know what you’re gonna get,” he said. “So don’t count anybody out.”
When asked whether Ghost would make an appearance, Sikora said he “might” and to keep watching.
Omari Hardwick, who played the character before his death in the sixth and final season of Power, previously spoke about the possibility of reprising the role in an interview. He told the podcast Higher Learning With Van Lathan and Rachel Lindsay that he’s “never not open” to the idea and imagines Ghost could come back as just that.
“I would come back but perhaps in a spinoff just in a space to give leverage to the show to go, OK, Ghost is speaking to Tariq, but we know he’s not actually there,” he explained. “OK, Ghost is in Tommy’s head, but is he really there? You know, just leaving that mystique. But I’d always be open. [‘Power’] changed my life,” he concluded.
When to watch the show
Power Book IV: Force will debut on Starz on Sunday, Feb. 6 — right after the season 2 finale of Power Book II: Ghost, which follows Ghost’s son Tariq St. Patrick in the aftermath of his death. It appears Force will be followed by the second season of the Kanan Stark spinoff, Power Book III: Raising Kanan. But nothing has been confirmed so far.
