‘Power Book IV: Force’: Why Does Tommy End up in Chicago?
Power Book IV: Force will finally debut on Starz in early 2022. Starz has just released the first teaser trailer for the series, and fans have never been more thrilled. The series picks up following the events of Power. Force stars Joseph Sikora as Tommy Egan. In the aftermath of James “Ghost” St. Patrick’s (Omari Hardwick) death, Tommy is going to have to find a way to rebuild and thrive without his best friend.
It looks like Tommy has left New York City for good but why does he end up in Chicago?

At long last, Starz has announced that Force will debut on Sunday, Feb. 6, 2021, on Starz. Though the teaser trailer has given fans some glimpses about what they can expect from the series, much of it still remains underwraps.
“It’s really f***ing good,” Sikora told Entertainment Weekly. “People are going to love it. I think that it’s going to take all facets of Tommy that we’ve built up to until now to not only survive but to potentially thrive — and to potentially leave. You don’t know if it’s going to be one city and then another city and if he’s going to keep bopping or what connections need to be made.”
Why does Tommy end up in Chicago?
When Power Book IV: Force was initially greenlit, Starz announced that the series was going to be set in Los Angeles. However, Tommy has obviously landed in Chicago. It turns out, that he makes a pit stop in the Midwestern city in order to tie up some loose ends.
“As Tommy leaves New York after losing Ghost, LaKeisha and the only city he’s ever known, he makes a quick detour to close an old wound that’s been haunting him for decades,” the official Starz description reads. “What was supposed to be a quick stop turns into a labyrinth of family secrets and lies Tommy thought were long buried. One step leads to another and Tommy quickly finds himself in Chicago’s drug game, inserting himself between the city’s two biggest crews.”
From the looks of the teaser trailer Tommy has no qualms of making his presence known in Chicago.
Joseph Sikora says Tommy will be shocked by one aspect of Chicago
Though it appears that Tommy will thrive in Chicago, there is one aspect of the city that the gangster won’t see coming. Sikora, who was born and raised in the Windy City explained that Tommy won’t understand the segregation and racism that is still a major part of the city.
“The racism of Chicago, the dividedness of Chicago, is foreign to Tommy in a lot of ways, and so I think that is going to be a really interesting topic for us to tackle, the separation of Black and white and Latin people in terms of neighborhoods,” the actor told Entertainment Weekly. “We have these real brilliant homegrown actors who are really showing the diversity and quality of the city of Chicago. I’m really proud of that.”
Still if there is one person that knows how to thrive amid challenging situations its Tommy.
