PR Expert Says Jennifer Lopez Needs to Stay ‘Authentic’ and ‘Humble’ Amid Ben Affleck Crisis
Jennifer Lopez and Ben Affleck are reportedly headed for divorce after two years of marriage. Their love story started in 2002, and they got engaged the year they met. Unfortunately, they split in 2004 before they could get married. They rekindled their flame in 2021 and tied the knot in 2022. But divorce rumors have loomed since April 2024. A PR expert now warns that Lopez must stay “humble” and “authentic” to retain her fan base amid the divorce rumors.
A PR expert says that Jennifer Lopez needs to embrace authenticity to ‘repair her image’ post-Ben Affleck
Jennifer Lopez and Ben Affleck haven’t officially announced a separation, but all signs point to a divorce for the couple. Fans rooted for Lopez and Affleck when they got back together in 2021. And when they tied the knot in 2022, many fans thought they were meant to be a couple for life. Unfortunately, insiders suggest that Affleck and Lopez have fundamental differences they can’t overcome. Lopez is career-driven and wants to live in the public eye, whereas Affleck intends to stay off social media to live privately.
PR expert Edward Hopkins told The Sun that Lopez continues to fall out of favor with the general public. Lopez self-funded her three-part film, This Is Me … Now, because critics and fans didn’t believe in the project. And her troubles with Affleck aren’t helping.
“High-profile relationships come with intense media scrutiny, and rumors of a potential divorce can overshadow professional achievements,” Hopkins explained.
He added that “videos on TikTok depicting her in an unflattering light — appearing rude to fans and strangers — have gone viral.”
”In today’s digital age, where every action can be captured and shared globally, maintaining a positive image is more challenging, but very crucial,” Hopkins said.
So, what should Lopez do to control the potential damage to her image? “Her career has been marked by resilience and reinvention,” Hopkins said. “To stage a comeback, she could focus on embracing a more authentic and humble public persona, which can help repair her image. Acknowledging mistakes and showing genuine appreciation for her fans might rekindle the public’s affection.”
J.Lo canceled her 2024 tour and apologized to fans
Jennifer Lopez might have disappointed many of her fans due to the cancelation of her tour in 2024. The summer North American tour was her first in five years.
“Representatives for Live Nation announced today that the Jennifer Lopez US Summer 2024 Tour, ‘This Is Me … Live’ is canceled, citing … ‘Jennifer is taking time off to be with her children, family, and close friends,'” her newsletter announcement read.
Lopez told fans she felt “heartsick” over the decision. “I am completely heartsick and devastated about letting you down,” she added in the newsletter. “Please know that I wouldn’t do this if I didn’t feel that it was absolutely necessary. I promise I will make it up to you, and we will all be together again. I love you all so much. Until next time ….”
Initially, ticket sales for the show were slow. However, an insider told DailyMail.com that Lopez sold 78% of her tickets when she canceled the tour. “If [she] had done this [cancellation] early on, then it would have been about ticket sales because they did start slow, but it was not,” the insider explained.
An alleged friend of Lopez’s told the publication that Lopez is willing to sacrifice her career to make her marriage to Ben Affleck work. “She wants this marriage to work so much that she is willing to make any sacrifice, including giving up being J.Lo,” the insider alleged. ” … I think you can already see her toning down the way she looks and obviously quitting this tour as well to try to hang on to the marriage.”
