Prince Charles’ Former Butler Says He Can Tell the Relationship Between Charles and Prince Harry Is ‘Done’
Prince Charles and Prince Harry have had a strained relationship for quite some time. The tension started to build when Harry first started dating his now-wife, Meghan Markle. And once Harry and Meghan separated themselves from the rest of the family — and later stepped down from their roles — things only became worse between the father and son.
It turns out Charles’ former butler knows how royal relationships work, and he can tell “the damage has been done” between Charles and his father.

There had been rumors for quite a while that Charles and Harry were at odds. Things only became worse when Harry and Meghan announced that they’d be giving up their royal duties. However, the royals always remained quiet on what was truly going on behind the scenes. That was, until Harry and Meghan sat down with Oprah Winfrey in March 2021.
The two spoke about some exciting things, such as announcing they were expecting a daughter. But they also opened up about the hardships endured while in the royal family. And Harry revealed that tensions are high between him and his father. Harry said that Charles cut him off financially and that Charles had stopped taking his calls. Harry and his father hadn’t spoken much since Harry moved away, though the two did reconnect for several days when Harry returned home to attend Prince Philip’s funeral.
Prince Charles’ former butler says Charles and Harry might always be at odds
Charles and Harry are reportedly still at odds. It looks like Philip’s death wasn’t enough to bring the two back on good terms. Charles was reportedly upset with Harry after the Oprah interview, and rumor has it things haven’t gotten much better.
Charles’ former butler, Grant Harrold, spoke in a recent documentary about what he thinks it means for the father and son’s relationship. According to Page Six, Harrold thinks “the damage has been done” between Harry and his father.
“The relationship that I knew — which was a loving, caring, fun relationship — can never be like that again,” Harrold said.
Tom Quinn, a royal author, also had some words about how difficult it will be for Charles and his son to rekindle a good relationship. “I mean, I think if they are not careful it will be very difficult to bridge that divide in [the] future. I can’t see how they can do it,” Page Six reports.
Prince Harry’s recent comments have allegedly angered the family as well
Now that Harry is outside of the royal grasp, he’s been speaking more freely about what it was really like living under such a microscope. According to CNET, in a recent interview with Dax Shepherd, Harry revealed that being in the royal family was a “mixture between The Truman Show and being in a zoo.”
There have already been reports that the royal family is upset with Harry’s most recent comments, though nobody in the family has directly spoken out about Harry’s words. At this point, it’s unclear if things will ever be the same between Harry and his family. Now, Harry is looking toward the future with his wife and their little family.
