As the oldest son of Prince William and the Princess of Wales (formerly known as Kate Middleton) Prince George has a certain amount of pressure on him that his siblings and most of the other royal family members don’t have.

William and Kate have always said that they have tried to give their kids as “normal” a childhood as they possibly can. However, over the last few years, George has come to understand and is being prepared more for his future job by attending engagements and events with his parents. And while the youngster is often seen with his siblings Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis during outings with William and Kate, his best friend is someone who isn’t on camera as much.

Read on to find out which royal family member that is.

Who an expert says is Prince George’s best friend and why

Judi James is a body language and behavioral expert who has authored several books including The You Code: What Your Habits Say About You. She has also analyzed several members of the royal family and decoded their demeanor at certain events. Now, she’s sharing who Prince George’s very best friend is as shown in his body language whenever they’re together.

According to James, George’s BFF provides some comic relief for him amid the pressure of being a future monarch.

“As heir to the throne George is under the most pressure of all the queen’s great-grandchildren to learn and perform the etiquette and protocol of public royal events and with his parents and even his sister Charlotte on hand to provide coaching and the odd nudge he is quickly growing into his role,” James said per Express.

The expert added: “Savannah Phillips, Princess Anne’s granddaughter, is two years older [than George]” and “always looks super-popular, confident, and playful.”

James detected a “certain amount of hero-worship” for Savannah in George’s body language, noting that he never fails to laugh whenever she’s around, whether it’s on the Palace balcony, during a royal wedding, or at the Platinum Pageant.

James went on to explain that Savannah “has no sense of royal hierarchy when it comes to George” recalling that she was once pictured “pushing the future king down a grassy hill”.

Who an expert says is Princess Charlotte’s best friend

James also discussed who she believes Princess Charlotte’s best friend is opining that it is her mom Kate.

The expert noted: “As Charlotte gets older there are some clear signs of not just mother-daughter bonding with Kate but also friendship signals, too.

“It’s not unusual for a mother and her daughter to describe themselves as friends or even enjoy being ‘best friends’ but where Kate and Charlotte are concerned that specific bond might be more necessary than it is for others as being a top-tier royal can be an isolating experience and we all saw how much the late queen always cherished the unique equality of her mother-daughter bond with Princess Anne.”

James also claimed that Kate is perhaps more a “mentor” than a friend to her daughter currently, but Charlotte is already mirroring her and other senior royals when she is doing things like “keeping her brothers in check” and “[she’ll] become a source of companionship and support for Kate in the Firm” as she gets older.
