Prince Harry and Meghan Markle confirmed Meghan is pregnant

While there has been plenty of speculation surrounding Meghan and Prince Harry having another child, the couple made the official announcement on Feb. 14, 2021.

They shared the happy news in a statement that read: “We can confirm that Archie is going to be a big brother. The Duke and Duchess of Sussex are overjoyed to be expecting their second child.”

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s pregnancy announcement photo had a lot of meaning

Prince Harry and Meghan’s pregnancy announcement statement was brief, but the black-and-white photo that was shared had a lot of meaning.

The image was taken remotely by the couple’s friend, photographer Misan Harriman and shared on social media. Harriman explained some of the symbolism in their photo, telling British Vogue, “With the tree of life behind them and the garden representing fertility, life and moving forward, they didn’t need any direction, because they are, and always have been, waltzing through life together as absolute soulmates.”

In the pic, the two share this happy moment –—Prince Harry barefoot and casual and Meghan laying with her head in his lap, cradling her baby bump. The two connect with their eye contact and huge smiles.

Harriman further shared how the photo session was very casual but easy to capture “their truth.”

“When you see people who have the connection that they have, it’s like reading the pages of a book,” he explained.

Harriman posted the image on Instagram and Twitter, noting: “Meg, I was there at your wedding to witness this love story begin, and my friend, I am honoured to capture it grow. Congratulations to The Duke and Duchess of Sussex on this joyous news!”

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle paid tribute to Princess Diana

Prince Harry and Meghan have paid tribute to Princess Diana in the past, but there’s something significant about the date the couple shared their pregnancy news. Yes, there’s the love wrapped up in the Valentine’s Day holiday, but there’s a sweet tribute to Diana as well.

On Feb. 14, 1984, the press announced that Princess Diana and Prince Charles were expecting their second child — Princess Diana was pregnant with Harry!

Palace officials reportedly stated: “Both Prince Charles and Princess Diana are delighted by the news -— as are the queen, Prince Philip and all the members of both families.”

Prince Harry and Meghan previously paid tribute to Princess Diana when they posted a photo of their son Archie on Mother’s Day in 2019. The message read:  “Paying tribute to all mothers today — past, present, mothers-to-be, and those lost but forever remembered.”

Only Archie’s toes held by Meghan’s hand were in the photo, but royal fans noticed the touching tribute to Diana: the flowers in the background, Forget Me Nots, were Diana’s favorite flower.
