Prince Harry Still Has ‘Bitterness’ From Meghan Markle’s Tough Time in the Royal Family, Expert Says
In 2020, Prince Harry and Meghan Markle stepped down as senior royals and moved to California. Since then, the couple has made it no secret that they were not happy during their time in the royal family.
According to a royal expert, Harry still has “bitterness,” especially from the difficulties his wife faced. He recently showed this alleged “bitterness” in an interview.
Meghan Markle claimed she did not get support as a royal
In March 2021, Meghan and Harry made headlines when their interview with Oprah Winfrey aired. During the talk, Meghan admitted to struggling in the royal family.
For example, she claimed that she received very little training in how to be a royal. “There were certain things that you couldn’t do,” Meghan said. “But, you know, unlike what you see in the movies, there’s no class on how to… how to speak, how to cross your legs, how to be royal. There’s none of that training. That might exist for other members of the family. That was not something that was offered to me.”
The duchess also claimed that she did not receive support when she dealt with racism and sexism from the press in the U.K. She also alleged that the royal family did not help her when she experienced mental health issues.
Additionally, according to Meghan, one unnamed made comments about her son’s skin color.
Prince Harry still has ‘bitterness’ from Meghan Markle’s royal days, expert says
Recently, during his appearance at the Invictus Games, Harry sat down for an interview with Hoda Kotb. Harry revealed that he still gets along with Queen Elizabeth and that he wants his grandmother to be “protected” and have “the right people around her.”
It is unclear what kind of people Harry was referring to, but royal expert Richard Palmer believes this statement could be a sign of “bitterness” the duke still has.
“He talked about how he wanted to make sure the Queen was protected and has the right people around her and I think that has really left people wondering who he is talking and what he means,” Palmer said (via Express). “It’s been seen as a dig at some of the senior advisers to the Queen.”
Palmer added, “I think there’s a little bit of bitterness left over from after he and Meghan got married and they felt Meghan didn’t get the help and support she needed.”
Prince Harry says California is now his home
Since Harry and Meghan’s move to California, many onlookers have wondered how the duke feels to be living far away from his home. Speaking to Kotb, Harry shared that he has come to enjoy living in the U.S.
“Home for me now is for the time being is in the States and it feels that way as well,” he explained. “We’ve been welcomed with open arms and we have such a great community up in Santa Barbara.”
