Prince Harry’s Recent Charity Trips Have Showed Him ‘How Much He’s Lost,’ a Friend Says
Prince Harry and Meghan Markle spent some time apart in October, but it was only so Harry could attend various charity engagements around the globe while Meghan kept an eye on the couple’s two children. Harry and Meghan left the royal family in 2020, but they have kept very close ties to a number of charitable organizations.
Although Harry and Meghan seem happy in California, and old friend of the prince’s has revealed that Harry has realized what he’s “lost” since starting a new life in the United States.
Prince Harry’s charity trips have opened his eyes to what he left behind, friend says
Harry and Meghan started out doing well in the royal family, but within about a year after marrying, problems unraveled, and rumors started to swirl that Harry and Meghan weren’t happy. Within about a year of that, the Sussexes had officially decided to step down from their royal roles; they have been living in the United States ever since.
However, according to an old friend of Harry’s, his recent trip to the UK and other parts of the world for some charity work has reminded him of everything he left behind that he loved about the royal family.
“I think Harry’s work over recent weeks … will have brought home to him how much he has lost by moving to the States,” the source told royal commentator Richard Eden of Daily Mail.
“Imagine the difference if they were still working royals,” the source said. “They would be the center of attention wherever they went. They would be patrons of organizations and charities, not just guests turning up.”
Harry has not said that he misses the charities he affiliated with while a working royal, though that could be because he has still continued to work with many of them long after he left the family.
Prince Harry and Meghan Markle have turned their royal charity brand into Archewell
When Harry and Meghan left the family, they started the Archewell Foundation, which has been their way of keeping up with charity work. However, the two have not received the same love and support for Archewell from the public that they might have if they had stuck it out in the royal family.
Harry and Meghan did have a difficult time with the press and the public while royals, but it’s possible — and even pretty likely — that the negativity would have passed as the two became more acclimated to royal life together. It’s hard to fault them for doing what made them happy, but it seems that many people still wonder what things would be like if the couple had not left the royal family.
