Princess Diana’s family has reportedly enveloped Prince Harry. As Harry remains estranged from the royal family, the Spencer’s have reportedly brought him even closer into their fold. Has Harry found his “home away from home” with his mother’s family after King Charles asked his son and his wife, Meghan Markle, to vacate their Frogmore Cottage home in 2023?

Prince Harry may have a permanent UK base

Newsweek‘s Jack Royston discussed Prince Harry’s lack of ties to the United Kingdom in the Royal Report podcast. He believes that Althorp, Princess Diana’s childhood home, could allow Prince Harry the “home away from home” he no longer has.

“I’m going to be keeping an eye out for whether we see Harry stay at Althorp again on future visits to Britain outside August,” he said. “Because obviously, the question is: is this Harry’s new arrangement?”

Royston assessed, “Is he going to stay with the Spencer’s now when he comes to Britain? Or was this specifically about the fact that it was a Spencer family event. And that it was the anniversary of Princess Diana’s death?”

“It’s totally possible that it was a complete one-off. Because of those factors, we might not see Harry stay there again. But if he does, it could be that Althorp becomes a kind of home away from home for Harry when he’s in Britain.”

Royston concluded, “He does need a place to stay. Because obviously Harry and Meghan got evicted from their UK home, Frogmore Cottage, by King Charles in 2023.”

Snubbed By Royals, Prince Harry Stays at Princess Diana’s Childhood Home During UK Visit

In late August 2024, Prince Harry traveled to the United Kingdom for a memorial service honoring his uncle, Lord Robert Fellowes. Fellowes was the husband of Princess Diana’s sister, Lady Jane Fellowes.

People Magazine reported that Prince Harry stayed with his uncle Charles Spencer at Althorp House on August 29. His uncle had reportedly invited him to stay at Princess Diana’s childhood home while he attended the memorial service.

It was reported that Harry was at Althorp on his mother’s death anniversary, August 31. On that day, Princess Diana died 27 years prior.

Princess Diana is buried at the center of Oval Lake on the Althorp estate. Her grave is unmarked, and it is only accessible by boat.

During the summer, visitors to Althorp can view a memorial to the late Princess of Wales. A Grecian-style building dedicated to her honor is near her grave and can be accessed on foot.

Prince Harry remains in touch with the Spencer family

Since his mother’s 1997 death, Prince Harry has remained in touch with the Spencer family. While his duties were to the House of Windsor, he remained in close contact with Diana’s siblings, Charles Spencer, Lady Jane Fellowes, and Lady Sarah McCorquodale.

Express reported that Harry and his wife, Meghan Markle, were invited by Charles Spencer to spend Christmas in the United Kingdom. It will be the first time the couple have spent the holidays in the UK since leaving their royal roles in March 2020.

“Charles [Spencer] has invited Harry, Meghan, and the children to Althorp this Christmas,” the outlet reported. “It’s far too early to say whether they will take him up on it. But the offer is there if they want it.”

Royal expert Hilary Fordwich told Fox News, “Both Prince William and Harry have always remained close with their Spencer relations. Members of the Spencer family have been intertwined with the royals for centuries and currently have been working behind the scenes urging reconciliation between the brothers.”

It is unknown whether Prince Harry will spend the holiday season in the United Kingdom. He reportedly remains estranged from many senior royals, including his father, King Charles, brother, Prince William, and sister-in-law, Kate Middleton.
