Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s ‘Deafening Silence’ About the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee Explained by Body Language Expert
Prince Harry and Meghan Markle didn’t issue a statement congratulating Queen Elizabeth on her milestone 70-year reign. One body language expert explored his theories about why the couple has remained silent.
Prince Harry and Meghan Markle didn’t congratulate the queen
Queen Elizabeth is celebrating her 70-year reign, an impressive accomplishment. Harry and Meghan, however, didn’t issue a statement to congratulate her.
Prince William and Kate Middleton retweeted the royal family’s posts about the 70th anniversary of the queen’s accession to the throne. They also shared the news on their Instagram stories.
Prince Charles issued a statement of congratulations. “On this historic day, my wife and I join you all in congratulating Her Majesty The Queen on the remarkable achievement of serving this nation, the Realms and Commonwealth for seventy years,” the statement read. “The Queen’s devotion to the welfare of all her people inspires still greater admiration with each passing year.”
Expert breaks down Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s silence
In a video on his YouTube channel The Body Language Guy, expert Jesús Enrique Rosas shared some thoughts on why Harry and Meghan didn’t release a statement.
“Harry and Meghan have been unusually quiet,” he explained. “Some silences just scream out loud, like not sending any public message to Her Majesty the Queen in her Platinum Jubilee.”
The body language expert offered some theories about why the couple decided not to issue a statement. “Some would say that they want to enjoy their privacy and they are not engaged at all on public affairs … but the fact is, they did not have to do it on their own,” he noted. Rosas pointed out how the couple has staff and a PR firm that “could handle it for them.”
Rosas said the move was deliberate. “The only explanation about that deafening silence is that they expressly decided to NOT issue any message,” he said. “The silence must have been on purpose,” he added.
The expert asserted that they “couldn’t have forgotten that, they couldn’t have mishandled that.” Instead, he said, “They plain and simple commanded their staff to ignore it.”
Rosas added, “Harry intentionally and purposefully ignored his grandmother’s 70 years of service.”
The body language expert explained a probable ‘missing piece’
Rosas also considered the queen’s statement about Camilla. “There must be an additional factor that must have personal weight,” he said. “And I’m sure that the missing piece is Camilla.”
Rosas continued, “The queen has made it crystal clear that she would like everyone to acknowledge Camilla as Queen Consort once Charles becomes king.”
The expert tied this to Prince Harry’s upcoming memoir. “There were rumors about Camilla being the center of this book’s focus,” Rosas explained.
He wondered if the queen’s statement about Camilla upset Harry. “Just the fact that they decided to issue no congratulations at all, it’s a good signal that maybe they are not coming for the Jubilee celebrations,” Rosas shared.
He added, “Not sending a public message on her majesty’s Jubilee is literally a declaration of war.”
