The Duke and Duchess of Sussex reportedly recently made a new home purchase: a vacation property in Portugal. However, the information was leaked rather than told. Harry and Meghan have remained silent on whether they bought a new property. But the couple’s big decision could actually indicate a new direction in their relationship with the public. Previously, they were very open about all of their experiences. They had documentaries, interviews, and books all recounting their time in the royal family. But now, their silence could mean they’re changing their views on letting the public in and are opting for a truly private life.
“Portugal may be something they’re planning to keep more private because they have been quite reticent in talking about it at all, royal expert Gareth Russell told GB News, via Express. “Whereas the Montecito purchase was fairly public.”
Russell added that the couple’s decision to publicize or not publicize the home purchase says a lot about them. “Whether they go private or public with the new Portuguese residence will be a good indicator of where they’re going in terms of how public or private they’ll be going forward, and whether it will be a change to what we have seen in the past.”
