Prince Harry and Meghan Markle are ‘Drowning Out’ the ‘Noise’ But Harry Is ‘Feeling Sad’ Over Recent Criticism

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle continue to put their best feet forward despite constant criticism; one former royal staffer said the two are ‘drowning out’ the haters especially with Harry’s recent award.

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle are still finding their way more than four years after the Duke and Duchess of Sussex left the royal family back in 2020. Harry and Meghan have welcomed another child into their family, launched their own projects, and settled into their gorgeous Montecito, California home, but the two still deal with constant attention despite living a more private life.

Now, one expert says the two are “drowning out” the inevitable “noise” that comes with their fame, although Harry reportedly is “feeling bad” over some recent criticism.

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle are ‘drowning out’ the ‘noise’ surrounding their fame

Things haven’t been so smooth for Harry and Meghan since the two relocated from the United Kingdom to the United States. The two have launched their own business ventures and have succeeded in their own projects, but they can’t seem to shake their royal reputations.

Beyond that, Harry recently faced criticism after he was announced as the winner of the Pat Tillman award, which he accepted at this year’s ESPYs for his work on the Invictus Games. But Tillman’s own mother, Mary Tillman, disagreed with the decision to give Harry the award — and vocalized it. “I am shocked as to why they would select such a controversial and divisive individual to receive the award,” she told Daily Mail.

Former royal butler Grant Harrold told the New York Post that he thinks Harry and Meghan are doing their best to ignore the haters. “I’m sure they’ll be drowning out the outside noise by continuing with their normal and everyday life and trying not to turn on the television, or read the papers as much,” he said. Harrold even suspected Harry might decline the award, — which he did not end up doing — and added that Harry is likely “feeling quite sad” about the backlash.

Prince Harry was honored with the Pat Tillman award for his Invictus Games

The Pat Tillman award is named after Pat Tillman, a former NFL player who enlisted in the military after the September 11 attacks and was ultimately killed in friendly fire overseas in 2004. The award is meant to honor outstanding service men and women — for example, last year, the award was given to the first responders who saved Buffalo Bills player Damar Hamlin’s life after he collapsed and went into cardiac arrest mid-game.

This year, Harry was honored for the work he has done by empowering injured or sick service members through sports; the Invictus Games is an event held every other summer. Harry announced recently that a winter Invictus Games will also take place in 2025 in Vancouver, Canada. He accepted the award with dignity and pride — and received a standing ovation — despite the negative feedback.
