Prince Harry and Meghan Markle appear “faced in two different directions,” says a royal commentator. While Meghan seems to be moving forward and reinventing herself, Harry is still “defining himself” by his painful past.

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle are reportedly not on the same professional page

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle appeared united after leaving their roles as senior royals in 2020. However, a new report claims that in the four years since their exit, Harry and Meghan have apparently not been on the same professional page.

Daniela Elser of News.com.au writes, “Meghan seems focused on their future and defining herself by her entrepreneurial zest. Harry’s eyes seem to be glued to the rearview mirror. In early 2023, after Harry & Meghan had aired and Spare had been released, the couple’s then global press secretary Ashley Hansen called these outings “vital ‘look back’ projects” and said the duo’s work would “now look forward.'”

Elser questions, “Is Harry, though? From the outside, the Sussexes are facing in two different directions. With Oprah, with Spare, and with Harry and Meghan, the duke managed to largely define himself by the slings and arrows he weathered for years inside the prickly bosom of the palace.”

Meghan Markle spotted at a female-led Hamptons event

Meghan Markle appeared at the G9 Ventures Summer Summit in the Hamptons on July 28. The Duchess of Sussex mixed and mingled with Amy Griffin, Jamie Kern Lima, Gwyneth Paltrow, and Reese Witherspoon.

The summit appearance could be tied to her new lifestyle brand, American Riviera Orchard. However, the brand has yet to release a launch date.

As Meghan reinvents herself, Prince Harry appears to be a prisoner of his past. He recently appeared in a documentary called Tabloids on Trial.

There, Harry rehashed his old problems with the press. The Hollywood Reporter shared Harry’s claims the press caused a rift between him, Meghan, and the royal family.

“It is clear now to everybody that the risk of taking on the press and the retaliation from them of taking these claims forward. It’s clearly not in [the royal family‘s] interest to do that. It’s clear from the last four years with my wife and children. They pushed me too far.”

Prince Harry, Meghan Markle: Why Didn’t They Share a Wedding Day Kiss on the Buckingham Palace Balcony?

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle appear to remain at odds over whether or not to continue fighting the very institution that made them household names. However, fighting against the royal family won’t bode well for the couple and their two children, Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet.

Therefore, both Harry and Meghan must overcome an impasse about the direction they wish their lives to go. Do they find a way to stand on their own without the royal family or do they lean back into the safety net of the House of Windsor?

Currently, the couple remains stuck in a holding pattern. Thus, only time will tell if they will ever successfully create their own lives away from the royal family.
