Prince Harry and Meghan Markle Just Saw a Surprisingly Massive Boost in Their Net Worth — Here’s Why
Prince Harry and Meghan Markle wanted out of the royal family less than two years after the two wed and became an official working royal team. The Duke and Duchess of Sussex have since moved to the United States, where they’ve taken on a number of business ventures.
Harry and Meghan have made money in a few ways, and Meghan just launched her own Netflix show in the lifestyle space. In the meantime, though, the two have seen a massive boost to their net worth and no, it wasn’t due to any of their business decisions.
Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s home has had a major value increase
Harry and Meghan bought their Montecito, California home right at the height of covid in 2020. Everyone was staying inside, so things like home sales and car sales dropped. As a result, interest rates were super low, and housing prices were a steal. But anyone who tried to purchase after 2021 knows that the cheap housing situation was short-lived — many properties purchased before that have increased substantially in value.
Harry and Meghan’s is no exception. The Sussexes initially paid a staggering $14.65 million for their Montecito mansion, which feels like an unbelievable number. But according to real estate estimates, that home is now worth more than $27 million. Zillow suggests the “Zestimate” (Zillow’s estimated value of a certain property) sits somewhere between $20.4 million ad $36.7 million, averaging out to a little more than $27 million. That’s nearly double what Harry and Meghan paid for it less than five years ago.
The home is the pinnacle of luxury. It features nine bedrooms; it reportedly has 16 bathrooms, though real estate websites have mixed number ranging from 13 to 19 bathrooms (the bottom line is there are way more toilets than people living there). It’s a Tuscan-style mansion with a pool, massive yard, and gorgeous vista views.
Prince Harry and Meghan Markle expanded their real estate portfolio this year
Harry and Meghan have owned their California home for several years, but they surprised people this year when they reportedly purchased a vacation home in Portugal. Harry and Meghan have not spent much time in Europe since leaving the royal family, but it appears that they will at least be visiting Portugal a little more often.
Harry and Meghan have kept their lives pretty private since moving into that Montecito home. While they do still attend public events, the two have kept their family and personal lives separate from their business life, which likely makes for a much more peaceful home.
