Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s Potential ‘Alliance’ With These Royal Relatives Is a ‘Huge Worry’ for Wiliam and Kate
Prince Harry and Meghan Markle cozying up to Princess Beatrice and Princess Eugenie reportedly worries Prince William and Kate Middleton. AN author says the Prince and Princess of Wales sense a potential “alliance” between the Duke and Duchess of Sussex and the York sisters could spell disaster.
Harry and Meghan aligning themselves with Beatrice and Eugenie is a concern for William and Kate
Speaking to Mirror, royal author Tom Quinn claimed William and Kate are concerned about cousins Beatrice, 36, and Eugenie, 34, forming an “alliance” with Harry and Meghan. (The York sisters are the daughters of daughters of Prince Andrew and Sarah Ferguson.)
“For William and Kate, an alliance between Harry and Meghan and Beatrice and Eugenie is a huge worry,” Quinn said. “They sense that Beatrice and Eugenie feel that, as virtual outcasts themselves, they have far more in common with Harry and Megan than with any other part of the family.”
In recent years, Beatrice and Eugenie have witnessed their father lose his working royal status following a widely panned interview regarding his connection to Jeffrey Epstein.
Making the situation “worse” is “the fact that the senior royals’ main asset—Kate herself—is effectively out of action.” Although Kate’s done with chemotherapy and is cancer-free, no official return date has been announced.
The York sisters reportedly haven’t talked to Harry and Meghan in a while
William and Kate might be able to breathe a sigh of relief, as Beatrice and Eugenie aligning themselves with Harry and Meghan seems unlikely, given a report they aren’t very close these days.
The York sisters “haven’t communicated” with the California-based royals “for quite a while now,” a source told OK! Magazine earlier this summer. “They are nowhere near as close as they once were.”
Now the York sisters are focusing their energy on the Firm and the future of the crown. “Beatrice and Eugenie have firmly pledged their allegiance to the royal family,” the insider said.
Eugenie and her husband, Jack Brooksbank, are the only royals who have visited Harry and Meghan in California. They’ve been spotted having dinner together and even at the Super Bowl (Eugenie and Harry had box seats).
Harry and Meghan were close with Princess Eugenie and her husband from the start of their relationship
In Spare, his 2023 memoir, Harry shared that Eugenie, whom he refers to in the book as “Euge,” as well as Brooksbank, were among the first relatives to spend time with him and Meghan as a couple.
He recalled having dinner with Eugenie and Brooksbank when Meghan stayed with him at Kensington Palace’s Nottingham Cottage for the first time in 2016. The soon-to-be 40-year-old also recalled how well it had gone. “I remember Euge hugging Meg, as if they were sisters,” he said. “[…] I remember thinking: If meeting the rest of my family goes like this, we’re home free.”
Harry later expressed how he and Meghan both were “deliriously happy” for Eugenie and themselves when she and Brooksbank married in October 2018 “since Jack was one of our favorite people.”
The pair, who have since welcomed two sons, were also present when Meghan met the late Queen Elizabeth II at the Royal Lodge, which Harry opened up about in Spare.
