It’s certainly not the press Prince Harry or Meghan Markle want or need right now but negative claims about the non-working royals are dominating the headlines.

After focusing on rebranding their images at the end of 2024 and into 2025, there are some allegations it seems that Meghan in particular will never be able to shake as a blistering cover story in a popular publication has turned the tide against her again.

Here’s what an LA-based commentator is hearing about how these claims are affecting the Duke and Duchess of Sussex.

From ‘disaster tourists’ to ‘Mean Girl’ Meghan

One week after being labeled “disaster tourists” by actor Justine Bateman and others, Harry and Meghan are back on the wrong side of the news.

Amid the devastating wildfires in and around Los Angeles, the couple showed up at an evacuation center for 17 minutes in what was many dubbed a “photo op” with Pasadena’s mayor Victor M. Gordo. The Sussexes also toured some of the disaster zones which angered residents who own property there and haven’t been allowed to get back there yet themselves.

Before the dust completely settled on that story, a lengthy feature about the duke and duchess was published in Vanity Fair. The publication talked to several people who said they “needed therapy” after working with Meghan because of her brutal treatment towards people, saying she’s “really, like, a Mean Girls teenager.”

The story is reminiscent of one a few months back in which The Hollywood Reporter spoke to members of the “Sussex Survivors Club” who called the duchess a “dictator in high heels” and labeled her a “demon boss” who has “psycho moments.”

Commentator says Harry and Meghan are ‘upset’ and ‘bruised’ by fresh allegations

During an appearance on Sky News Australia royal commentator and To Di For Daily podcast host Kinsey Schofield shared what she’s hearing in LA about how Meghan and Harry are coping following Vanity Fair’s cover story.

“It’s my understanding that they’re upset over it,” Schofield shared. “I’m being told things aren’t good for them right now between Meghan’s show being postponed, which I’ve heard was Netflix’s idea … and she has worked so hard to rebrand herself and here comes a very respected publication reiterating some of the nastiest claims about her.”

Schofield then gave her take on how the Sussexes may be feeling now, opining: “I think they’re bruised and they’re sitting back trying to figure out how to process going forward. But going out and having their photo taken amongst the devastating fires did these two no favors. They’re in a bad place right now.”
