Prince Harry Once Exploded on Queen Elizabeth, Hasn’t Really Spoken to Prince William Since Sandringham
Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s decision to step down as senior working royals back in January 2020 caused a sibling rift between Harry and Prince William, claims royal expert Omid Scobie. The co-author of Finding Freedom says that there was a blowout at Sandringham when they met with Queen Elizabeth. And, the brothers have not really spoken to each other since.
‘Finding Freedom’ details Prince Harry and Meghan’s relationship
Scobie and his co-author Carolyn Durand have made numerous headlines this month because of details revealed in their new book. Finding Freedom is a biography of Harry and Meghan’s relationship starting when they met in 2016 up until Megxit.
Before the book’s release, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex issued a statement. They said that they did not give interviews to Scobie and Durand and they did not contribute to the biography.
However, they did not dispute any of the stories told in the book. Instead, the couple said it was “based on the authors’ own experiences as members of the royal press corps.”
Scobie recently sat down for an interview with True Royalty TV — as first reported by the UK’s Metro — to talk about his new book. He said that the royal family would “stop at nothing to make Meghan’s life difficult.”
He also revealed that Meghan’s problems with the royal family started before she married Prince Harry.
Did Prince Harry curse at Queen Elizabeth?
Scobie recalled a story that took place leading up to Harry and Meghan’s wedding. He said that Harry called Queen Elizabeth to complain about her key assistant, Angela Kelly. Scobie explained that Harry had to “intervene” because of how Kelly was handling the selection of Meghan’s wedding headpiece.
“He called his grandmother and said, ‘I don’t know what the hell is going on. This woman needs to make this work for my future wife,'” revealed Scobie.
Meghan was not allowed to try on the tiara again until a few days before the wedding, says the royal journalist.
Scobie also dished on Meghan’s relationship with Kate Middleton. He said that the relationship “really never progressed that far.” He says Meghan felt that Kate didn’t make much effort to look after her during the darker moments. This included Meghan’s pregnancy in late 2018 and early 2019.
Prince William isn’t speaking to his brother after their relationship broke down
Scobie also claims that Prince William and Prince Harry haven’t spoken since their meeting at Sandringham in January. He says the brothers are going to need some time to heal after the distance between them grew wider.
The royal expert said that the biggest blow to Harry and Meghan’s relationship with the Cambridges came from their decision to go public with their plans for a new royal “working model.” Harry and Meghan did not discuss their Megxit plans with the family in private.
“That’s really what caused the most amount of hurt to William because he wears two hats.” said Scobie. “He’s not just the brother, he’s also the future king. He felt that damaged the reputation of the family.”
Scobie says a lot of family business was put into the public domain. Instead, it should have been discussed privately. And, there is still “a lot of hurt there that continues to this day.”
Another insider says the fallout between Prince William and Prince Harry is “serious and difficult.”
