Prince Harry‘s name has been in the headlines a lot lately as the duke has been attending engagements all over the globe. He went from Monetcito to New York to London to Africa in support of various causes.

Harry was in the Big Apple in late September for Climate Week and participated in a number of initiatives including the Concordia Annual Summit, the Clinton Global Initiative, and a function for his non-profit, Travalyst.

Now, someone who used to work for the royal family and knows Harry well says that the duke sent a message to his father, King Charles, when he spoke at one of those events.

Grant Harrold was King Charles’ butler for seven years. During his time working for the now-monarch his duties included that of valet, house manager, and driver as well. He also looked after Prince William and Prince Harry whenever they stayed at Highgrove House.

The former Palace employee noted how Harry paid tribute to his mother during his remarks at the Concordia Annual Summit. He also believes the duke was sending a message to his father when he spoke about climate change and how, now that he has children of his own, the reality of climate change is “absolutely terrifying.”

“We can’t ignore the reality of climate change. Every year we break new temperature records,” Harry declared in his speech. “Somebody born in 2020 is likely to experience eight times the number of heatwaves, four times the number of droughts, three times the volume of crop failures, and three times the number of river floods than a person born in 1960. As a father of two children, that’s absolutely terrifying. The level of suffering is heartbreaking.”

Speaking on behalf of Slingo, Harrold said: “Diana was a massive advocate for so many charities, and Harry has been inspired by that. This trip has seen Harry speak about his mother and her legacy and it’s definitely a tribute to her. But he’s also spoken passionately about Climate Change, which is a cause close to his father’s heart. I have no doubt he was honoring his father too.”

Harrold then added: “[Harry] loves and respects Charles and has a great deal of admiration for him. I think he’s wanted to go out there and give a nod of support to his dad and maybe he’ll hope that Charles will see this and get behind him.”

The king’s former butler says Harry will ‘try to make his way back to the royal family’

While the former royal butler isn’t sure when a reconciliation between the Duke of Sussex and his family will happen, he’s confident that one will. Harrold thinks that Harry is slowly trying to make his way back into the royal fold.

“Harry is attached to LA because it’s a different way of life and Americans have a real fondness for Brits,” Harrold opined. “But home is where the heart is, and I think he will slowly make a return to the U.K. to work, possibly stay, and hopefully rebuild things with his family.”
