Prince Harry ‘Unquestionably’ Thinks About the Royal Rift and Feels a ‘Certain Amount of Regret,’ Expert Says
Prince Harry and his wife, Meghan Markle, made headlines back in 2020 when they decided to step back from their roles as senior members of the royal family. The Duke and Duchess of Sussex have been on difficult terms with the royal family ever since, and although Harry does still speak to his father, things have remained messy between him and his brother, Prince William.
But one royal expert claims that Harry isn’t as content with his life in the United States as he thought he would be — and that he “unquestionably” misses royal life.
Prince Harry likely has some ‘regret’ over the way he exited the royal family
Harry and Meghan’s troubles with the royal family started even before they were married. The pair did not feel Meghan was being treated well by the press and, in turn, felt like the royal family was not doing enough to support her. Eventually, it caused them to step back from their royal roles, but it also led to huge tensions between Harry and his father, King Charles, and brother, Prince William. And while Harry might love Meghan and the little family they’re growing with Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet, he likely has some “regret” about the way things were handled.
According to Express, royal expert Richard Fitzwilliams told The Sun that Harry “unquestionably” still thinks about royal life. “We know they wanted an apology from the Royal Family for the way they were treated when they were senior working members of it,” Fitzwilliams said. “They certainly won’t get that. But I do think there will be a certain amount of regret.”
Fitzwilliams then added that Harry’s absence at Trooping the Colour might weigh on him due to his dedication to the military. “The military has been a very important part of his life, and I would have thought it only natural that he would have had a feeling of some regret.”
Prince Harry could potentially have the best of both worlds
Harry and Meghan have been concerned about the lack of security for them and their children over in the United Kingdom. But if Harry is having any regret about missing certain royal events or royal family members, an increase in security could give the Sussexes the best of both worlds. Harry and Meghan have made clear that they will not return to the UK unless they have proper security.
Harry recently filed an appeal after losing a lawsuit against Britain’s Home Office, which stripped him of his security after he gave up his royal title. If the appeal works in Harry’s favor, there is a chance we could see more of Harry and Meghan in the UK with their kids down the road.
