Prince Harry Used to Be ‘So Much Fun’ But He ‘Changed’ When He Met Meghan Markle, Insider Says
Prince Harry and Meghan Markle made some drastic changes just over a year after their wedding. The two were not happy with the way things were going in the royal family, and they ultimately did what was best for them: They got out. They have been rebuilding their reputations in the United States ever since.
Still, some people who used to be close to the prince claim they saw a notable change in him after he met Meghan. One royal photographer claims Harry went from “fun” to not-so-much after Meghan came into his life.
Royal photographer claims Prince Harry was once ‘so much fun’
When Harry and Meghan got married, things changed. But it’s important to note that Harry has since said much of his external excitement was a façade; he has said he always struggled with living in the royal family. When he met Meghan, he finally saw his escape route. But one royal photographer sees things differently and claims that Harry used to be generally more “fun” prior to meeting Meghan.
Arthur Edwards, who spent years as a photographer for the Sun, told the outlet that he saw noticeable change in Harry when he and Meghan started dating. “I remember when he met the Jamaican Prime Minister, instead of saying ‘hello ma’am, pleased to meet you’ he just hugged her,” Edwards recalled. “And I said, ‘what did you do that for?’ and he said, ‘Because my father said she likes a hug, so I thought I’d get in first’ — and that’s what he was like; it was so much fun.”
Edwards also recalled a moment with Harry in Brazil. “And then we went to Brazil, and he [was] playing football with the kids on the beach, and he’s running a road race, and as he finished the race he had a picture of William on his face.” Edwards also said that Harry was previously “a fabulous person to work with.”
Prince Harry and Meghan Markle have never looked back
Harry and Meghan left the royal family in 2020. They announced in January of that year that they would be carving out some type of new dynamic, but by March 2020, they had left altogether. They have only returned as a couple a handful of times, and Meghan has not been back at all since 2022.
In Harry’s “Spare” memoir, he doesn’t seem to mind that he left. Sure, he might miss his friends and family, but the benefits of starting a new life outweighed the costs. These days, Harry and Meghan are raising Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet in Montecito, California, and they don’t seem to have any interest in making a permanent return to royal life.
