In the 1990s, Princess Diana shocked the world by opening up about her struggles in the royal family. She talked about the way other royals neglected her and looked down on her.

After Diana died in 1997, her death affected her sons, especially Prince Harry. According to a royal expert, some of Harry’s recent behaviors are his way of seeking “revenge” for what happened to Diana.

Prince Harry has talked negatively about the royal family

In 2020, Harry and his wife, Meghan, Duchess of Sussex, stepped down as senior royals. The couple claimed at the time that they were seeking privacy and financial independence.

Nonetheless, Harry and Meghan have been talking to the media to share grievances against the royal family. For example, earlier this year, the couple had an explosive interview with Oprah Winfrey. They revealed their family experienced racism at the hands of another royal and that Harry’s father cut off financial support for them.

Afterward, Harry also sat down with Dax Shepard on the podcast Armchair Expert to discuss the negative sides of his royal upbringing.

Additionally, he filmed the Apple TV+ docu-series The Me You Can’t See with Oprah, where he opened up about how his mother’s death affected his mental health.

More recently, Harry revealed he will be releasing a memoir in 2022. Many onlookers speculate that the memoir will detail more grievances against the royal family.

A royal expert thinks Prince Harry is looking for ‘revenge’

Royals often keep their lives private, so some people question why Harry is giving interviews and publishing a book about his life. A royal expert believes he is looking for “revenge.”

“Let’s be clear, his main motivation is revenge,” journalist Richard Eden said on the Daily Mail’s series Palace Confidential. “I heard this week from someone—very senior old friend of Prince Charles—who said that Prince Harry has always been very, very bitter about the royal family’s treatment of his mother. And he’s become more bitter over time about the royal family’s treatment of him and, particularly, Meghan.”

Eden added about Harry’s memoir, “This is revenge, essentially… It’s just a question of how damaging it will be [for the royal family].”

According to Harry and Meghan’s charity organization, Archewell, Harry’s memoir will touch on his childhood. However, it is not clear to what extent Harry will talk about Diana.

Royal author Angela Levin claims that Harry will talk a lot about Diana, especially her death. Levin wrote on Twitter, “I’ve been told by a well informed source that Harry’s memoir will focus heavily on the death of his mother Princess Diana, and who he blames.”

Another royal author, Katie Nicholl, believes Harry might share a lot of things about his childhood he has never revealed before.

“I think there are still many unanswered questions. I think there are still many parts of his life, particularly his younger life that have yet to be explored,” she told ET. “And he has promised us a no-holds-barred autobiography, a memoir in which he is able to be wholly truthful about his life.”
