Prince Harry Went Full American Trading Nando’s for In-N-Out
Prince Harry is adjusting to life in a new country with a new job and different priorities. This means making huge sacrifices for his family, of course, and all the stress to go with it. But on a lighter note, it also means a change in diet.
The Duke of Sussex altered his food preferences ever since he started dating Meghan, Duchess of Sussex. And now that he’s officially living in Los Angeles, Prince Harry has traded in the U.K. favorite fast food joint Nando’s for a classic American option instead.
Meghan Markle encouraged Prince Harry to live a healthier lifestyle
Harry didn’t have terrible eating or exercise habits before Meghan came along. But overall, she’s encouraged him to think more deeply about the types of foods he was consuming plus how much exercise he was getting. The couple enjoys cooking meals together just like they often practice yoga, go for walks and bike rides, and spend time at the beach.
The Duke and Duchess of Sussex have also made mental health a priority, which was a huge deciding factor in their choice to step back as senior royals and forge a new path away from the stress of the British royal family.
Prince Harry used to eat Nando’s but now he prefers In-N-Out
We know Harry loves Nando’s based on a comment he made to the co-founder of the hot chicken restaurant, Robert Brozin. Mashed reported that the Duke of Sussex said to him, while referencing his bodyguard, “This man here is your biggest fan, he’s introduced me to Nando’s.”
Harry went on to say he loved the chicken too (just not the extra spicy kind). But that was back when he was still living in the U.K. with Nando’s readily available. Now that he’s relocated to LA, Prince Harry is more likely to be spotted in an In-N-Out drive-thru line.
Entertainment Tonight reported that Harry and Meghan were seen ordering burgers and milkshakes from this fast-food favorite restaurant. The couple even acted like total insiders, selecting items from the secret menu.
His love for fast food can be traced back to Princess Diana
There’s a good chance Prince Harry gets his taste for fast food from childhood. Even though the palace employed professional chefs, his mother Princess Diana was committed to raising her boys as normal children and not spoiled princes. For that reason she often treated them to McDonald’s.
“I remember the Princess came into the kitchen one day and said, ‘Cancel lunch for the boys; I’m taking them out, we’re going to McDonald’s,’” former royal chef Darren McGrady said during an interview with Marie Claire. “And I said, ‘Oh my God your royal highness, I can do that, I can do burgers.’ And she said, ‘No, it’s the toy they want.’”
Whether it was the toy or the taste of the burgers that attracted Harry and William is up for debate. But no matter what, it’s clear Prince Harry is open to eating fast food no matter how old he is or where he is living. And even though he’s eating and living healthier now than ever, the Duke of Sussex enjoys a drive-thru treat every once in a while.
