Prince Louis’ ‘Best’ Advice for England Soccer Team Should Be Taken With a ‘Pinch of Salt,’ Prince William Says
Prince Louis is dishing out advice. The 6-year-old son of Prince William and Kate Middleton has offered some words of encouragement for England’s national soccer team as they gear up for the UEFA Euro 2024 championships. Speaking to the players, the Prince of Wales shared Louis’ “best” advice for them that, in his opinion, should be taken with a “pinch of salt.” Ahead, what recommendation the young royal gave. Plus, what “visions” it inspired for William. Hint: It involved food.
William asked George, Charlotte, and Louis for advice to give England players
Every so often the Prince and Princess of Wales make a remark about their kids. On June 10, 2024, William did just that when he visited St. George’s Park, the country’s national football center in Burton upon Trent, England.
As president of England’s Football Association, the heir to the throne, who turns 42 on June 21, 2024, spent some time with the players.
William delivered a speech, recounting how earlier in the day while driving Prince George, 10, Princess Charlotte, 9, and Louis to school—they’re students at Lambrook School near their Windsor, England, home of Adelaide Cottage—he’d asked them for advice to give to England’s soccer team as the UEFA Euro 2024 championships near (via Newsweek).
“Guys, I was just thinking on the way here what would I say today?” William said. “Some of you have heard me speak before, some of you are new to the setup.”
“I thought, what could I offer all of you, your experienced team, here?” he continued. “What could I say that would help in a way? I was on the school run this morning with the children, and I said, ‘What should I say to the England team when I see them today?’”
Louis had the ‘best advice’ for the soccer players, according to William: Eat a big breakfast
William continued, revealing Louis’ response to the question produced the “best” nugget of advice for the England team.
“The best bit of advice I got was to eat twice the amount you normally would eat,” he said, before sharing what it immediately made him think of. “So, I then have visions of you running around with massive great tummies and loads of stitches on the pitch.”
“I think maybe take my youngest’s advice with a pinch of salt, particularly around the physio teams,” William, who did not share what advice George and Charlotte had, added.
What Prince Louis, Princess Charlotte, and Prince George like to eat for breakfast
As for what Louis and his two siblings eat for breakfast in the Wales household, their mom, Kate, who is continuing preventative chemotherapy treatment after announcing her cancer diagnosis in March 2024, revealed a little bit about it in 2020.
While visiting the London Early Years Foundation (LEFY) Stockwell Gardens Nursery and Preschool in January 2020, she shared what George, Charlotte, and Louis like to eat for breakfast as she served the first meal of the day to students.
“She mentioned to the children that her own children enjoy apples and cereal in the morning,” Michelle Samuels, the school’s manager, told Today at the time. Kate’s comment, in turn, “sparked a conversation with the children about their own preference of fruits.”
The UEFA Euro 2024 soccer championships run from June 14-July 14, 2024, in Germany.
