Prince William pulled a major Princess Diana move. The Prince of Wales, 42, took he and Kate Middleton’s two oldest children, Prince George, 10, and Princess Charlotte, 9, to Taylor Swift’s Eras tour in June 2024. Not only did they dance to the Grammy winner’s hits, but the royals met Swift backstage. For a royal commentator, the “dream come true” evening drew major parallels to a special moment during William’s childhood.

Swift, who is known not to do meet-and-greets on her Eras tour made an exception on June 21, 2024, the day William turned 42. She spent some time with William, George, and Charlotte backstage at London, England’s Wembley Stadium.

William and Swift had met years earlier at a charity event, but George and Charlotte were meeting the “Fortnight” singer for the first time.

Although reportedly “running really late” to meet Swift, the royals managed to snap some photos with Swift and meet her boyfriend, Kansas City Chiefs player Travis Kelce, 25 minutes before she took the stage (via Hello!).

The royals were ‘living their best lives’ at Swift’s London concert

“It’s been a really, really tough six months for the Wales family, but it does seem like things are looking up,” Jack Royston, a royal commentator, said on “The Royal Report” podcast (via Newsweek).

He went on to say they’ve “come out of the darkness” with the arrival of warmer weather and are “living their best lives” and “having a great time.”

Kate announced her cancer diagnosis in March 2024, followed by a hopeful update on June 14, 2024. Meanwhile, King Charles III is continuing his own cancer treatment after Buckingham Palace announced the monarch’s diagnosis in February 2024.

“There was something I thought looking at all the social media of them at the concert because they posed for pictures with Taylor and with Travis. And actually, there was one picture that was taken by William’s team. But there was also one that Taylor took herself, and she posted it.”

Kensington Palace posted a photo of the three royals with Taylor to William and Kate’s social media accounts. Meanwhile, Swift shared a snap of the four of them with the addition of her NFL player boyfriend to her own socials.

“Obviously, they all got millions and millions and millions of views. And it just really felt like William made Charlotte’s dream come true. I think it made George’s dream come true as well,” he continued. “But Charlotte, just in particular, looked so happy. She was absolutely grinning from ear to ear.”

William introducing George and Charlotte to the “Fornight” singer “just really reminded me of Diana introducing William to all his teenage crushes,” Royston said.

He then went on to recount what William said in the 2017 documentary, Diana, Our Mother: Her Life and Legacy. Specifically how Diana organized a special visit from supermodels on his birthday.

“The princess had organized for three famous supermodels to greet William one day on his return home from school, leaving him—like Charlotte—‘awe-struck.’”

“She organized when I came home from school to have Cindy Crawford, Christy Turlington, and Naomi Campbell waiting at the top of the stairs,” William recalled.

“I was probably a 12 or 13-year-old boy who had posters of them on his wall. And I went bright red and didn’t quite know what to say and sort of fumbled,’” he said. “I think I pretty much fell down the stairs on the way up. I was completely and utterly awe-struck.”

“Hopefully, Charlotte didn’t feel the need to be quite so embarrassed,” Royston said. “But just think how much every other kid at that concert would have loved to get that selfie with Taylor

“I think William is definitely, as a dad, making his kids’ dreams come true. And very lucky they are, too,” he concluded.
