Prince William and Kate Middleton are coming to the U.S. Or, at least, that seems to be their plan. Perhaps unsurprisingly, their estranged California-based relatives, Meghan Markle and Prince Harry, aren’t reportedly excited at the idea. Instead, it’s just “another blow.”

Meghan doesn’t want William and Kate entering her and Harry’s ‘territory’ in the U.S.

It won’t be one big happy (royal) family if and when the Prince and Princess of Wales head to the U.S. to expand their charitable activities. According to an OK! Magazine report, the Duchess of Sussex, 43, doesn’t want her brother and sister-in-law doing what she and the Duke of Sussex are doing.

“Meghan was quite shocked when she found out that Kate and William plan to do more work in America after trademarking their foundation’s brand with authorities,” an insider said. William and Kate filed for a U.S. trademark in May 2023. However, they have yet to unveil anything further.

“Although they have made a couple of trips to the U.S., it’s not really part of their territory,” they added. “And now Meghan feels they could be moving in on her turf.”

William and Kate filed for a Royal Foundation trademark in 2023

In May 2023, William and Kate took the next step in bringing their philanthropic organization, The Royal Foundation of The Prince and Princess of Wales, stateside. They filed an application with the United States Patent and Trademark Office.

The document filing hinted at plans to organize charitable fundraising, educational activities, and “healthcare services relating to mental health” in addition to clothing, banners, and posters. William and Kate’s trademark application came after they spent a few days in Boston, Mass., for the former’s 2022 Earthshot Prize Awards.

The application, particularly the mental health aspect, is an area Meghan and Harry have carved out for themselves and their own charitable work. (Most recently, they launched The Archwell Foundation Parents’ Network.)

“For Meghan, it just feels like another blow, as Harry is making more of a life for himself in America and doing big events without her, like the one he did in New York last week,” they said.

“And she already knows how popular Kate and William are in the U.S.,” the insider added. “And with their own Hollywood popularity seemingly dwindling, she doesn’t feel comfortable with them making any trips across the pond right now because they will no doubt be a huge fanfare.”

Previously, a royal commentator called it a “threat” from the future king and queen to Harry and Meghan.

William, Kate, Harry, and Meghan haven’t been seen together since 2022

It’s become rare in recent years for Harry, Meghan, William, and Kate to step out together publicly due to their strained relationship. In fact, it almost never happens.

The last time they did so came in September 2022 following Queen Elizabeth II’s death. They attended a number of events, including a surprise appearance outside Windsor Castle, culminating in the queen’s funeral

Earlier the same year, they were in the same room for a service honoring Queen Elizabeth during Platinum Jubilee Weekend. It marked the foursome’s first public appearance since Commonwealth Day in 2020

The much-talked-about moment, which Harry later said “felt cold,” marked his and Meghan’s last engagement as working royals.
