2025 got off to a fun start for the Wales family. William, Kate, and their three children, Prince Geoge, 11, Princess Charlotte, 9, and Prince Louis, 6, celebrated the new year with a ski vacation to the Alps, according to the Mail on Sunday

After spending the holidays at Anmer Hall, the Wales family’s home on the Sandringham estate, and taking part in the traditional walk to church on Christmas Day with other British royals, they “slipped away” to spend “several days” in the mountains.

Speaking to the outlet, a staffer at a restaurant the Wales family went to multiple times during their ski vacation shared that many guests didn’t realize they were in the presence of British royalty.

“They looked like a normal English family, and a lot of people didn’t recognize them,” the staffer said. The restaurant, which was once a shepherd’s hut, can only be accessed by skiers or a ride in a snow taxi.

“They have been coming here for years. I think they love the area. We often see Kate’s sister Pippa as well,” they added, sharing the youngest Middleton sibling, 37-year-old James, also made an appearance.

“James was there with his wife [Alizee Thevenet]. And then Kate arrived with Charlotte and Louis,” an onlooker said. “It seemed like a bit of a Middleton family knees-up. Everyone seemed to be really happy.”

“There were no airs and graces and actually they seemed like any normal family enjoying a ski break,” they added. “There were lots of laughs and the children were very polite.”

As for what could’ve given the Wales family away as being royalty? Not crowns or even a glimpse of Kate’s diamond and sapphire ring that once belonged to Princess Diana. Rather, the presence of security guards on their low-key ski vacation.

“The only reason you would have known that they were people of importance was because when Kate arrived so did a group of security guards,” the second source said.

However, their presence didn’t dampen Kate’s spirits. The future queen “looked like she was having a lovely time.”

Since William and Kate’s ski vacation with George, Charlotte, and Louis, it’s been full steam ahead on the new year for the family of five. They celebrated Kate’s birthday on Jan. 9, 2025, with a never-before-seen photo and a sweet message on social media. The kids went back to school, and Kate visited the hospital where she underwent cancer treatment last year hours before announcing she’s in remission.
