Why Prince William, Kate Middleton, Prince Harry, and Meghan Markle Were No-Shows at Brooklyn Beckham’s Wedding
Victoria Beckham and David Beckham‘s son, Brooklyn Beckman, is a married man now. The celebrity couple‘s eldest child wed his fiancée, Transformers actor Nicola Peltz, on April 9, 2022, at the bride’s family’s estate in Palm Beach, Florida. It was a star-studded affair, however, it did not include any members of the royal family despite reports that Prince William, Kate Middleton, Prince Harry, and Meghan Markle all made the guest list.
So why weren’t the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge and the Duke and Duchess of Sussex in attendance? Read on to find out, plus get the details on the event and who was there.
Prince William and Kate reportedly turned down their invite to the wedding
Because the Beckhams know the royal family well and attended the Cambridges’ and the Sussexes’ weddings, it was thought that both of the couples would be invited to Brooklyn’s wedding. According to a report, William and Kate did get an invite but politely declined the invitation.
A source close to the Beckhams told the Mirror: “David and Victoria wrote to William and Kate inviting them and the family to their son’s wedding, and William replied wishing them a great deal of joy but they are unable to attend.”
Prince Harry and Meghan weren’t invited but the president of their foundation was
As for Meghan and Harry, they reportedly did not score an invite to the event. That news surprised some people because Victoria and Meghan became friendly after the former Suits star started dating the prince, and David has publicly spoken about his friendship with Harry.
The publication’s source claimed that Brooklyn’s parents “agonized” over who to invite because of the royals’ alleged rift. But in the end, they chose the Cambridges as they have had a relationship with them longer saying: “David’s attachment and history go back with William and Kate and they have a very strong relationship and they were their choice of wedding guests.”
However, someone the Duke and Duchess of Sussex work very closely with was invited to the nuptials. Mandana Dayani, who is the president of Harry and Meghan’s Archewell Foundation, was there and shared a photo of her look for the night on Instagram.
The other stars who were at Nicola Peltz and Brooklyn Beckham’s wedding
Brooklyn asked Peltz to marry him in June 2020, but plans to tie the knot earlier were halted due to the coronavirus (COVID-19) lockdowns and restrictions as Brooklyn told Hello!: “If Covid wasn’t a thing we’d have liked to have been married already.”
Brooklyn’s bride, who is the daughter of billionaire Nelson Peltz, wore a custom Valentino gown for her big day. The pair said “I do” at the Peltz family’s $130 million oceanfront estate in front of about 300 guests.
While the royals were not there some high-profile celebrities who were on hand included Serena Williams, Venus Williams, Gordon Ramsay, Eva Longoria, Gigi Hadid, Nicole Richie, Tom Brady and Gisele Bundchen, and Victoria’s Spice Girls bandmates Mel B and Mel C. Moreover, Marc Anthony sang four songs at the reception and David Blaine performed magic tricks during the cocktail hour.
