Prince William and Kate Middleton Have Reversed Roles Amid Prince Harry’s Attacks on the Royal Family
Prince Harry has been taking aim at the royal family from more than 5,000 miles away and his allegations have affected and changed things for members of “the Firm” including his brother Prince William and his sister-in-law Catherine, Duchess of Cambridge.
In March 2020, Harry and Meghan, Duchess of Sussex officially stepped down from their roles as senior royals and moved across the pond. But after breaking from the prince’s family, the pair decided to let everyone know just how unhappy they had been when they were part of the “institution.”

During the Sussexes explosive interview with Oprah Winfrey in March 2021, the couple alleged that some members of Harry’s family were concerned with what their son’s skin color might be. Days later, Prince William was asked by a reporter about that race accusation and responded by saying: “We Are Very Much Not a Racist Family.”
Harry also talked about his relationship with William stating that there is “space at the moment.” When asked about his father, Prince Charles, Harry told the former talk show host that the Prince of Wales had stopped taking his calls and supporting him financially. But the Duke of Sussex wasn’t done taking shots at his family. In May during Dax Shepard’s Armchair Expert podcast brought up his father again while seemingly throwing his grandparents under the bus as well claiming his dad “treated me the way he was treated.”
“I don’t think we should be pointing the finger or blaming anybody but certainly when it comes to parenting, if I’ve experienced some form of pain or suffering because of the pain or suffering that perhaps my father or my parents had suffered, I’m going to make sure that I break that cycle so that I don’t pass it on,” Harry said, adding, “There’s a lot of genetic pain and suffering that gets passed on anyway.”

The royals can’t be happy with Harry’s recent comments and many believe that William is very upset that his sibling seems determined to try and bring down the monarchy. During this time though William has Kate who experts say has switched roles with the future king to become a major source of strength for him.
“Kate’s very much been the pillar of strength, guide, and mentor for William that he has always been for her,” royal author Katie Nicholl explained to the Telegraph (per Express). “He’s had a really hard time with his brother, he’s really struggled with it and she’s been a rock.”
Another royal insider echoed Nicholl’s remarks, telling the publication: “[William and Kate] are both very similar in the respect that they are quite shy people who have sometimes struggled with life in the limelight. A lot of the duchess’s growing confidence is down to him. She has never tried to be the frontman and always seen herself more in a supporting role, but he’s tried to push her out of that at points. He knows what she can achieve. But it works both ways. When he is having a difficult time, she is the one who helps him through it.”
William and his wife used to be close with Prince Harry and many fans remember photos of them out and about smiling, laughing, and looking like they were having a great time together. But those days are gone now and we can only hope that someday they’ll be able to heal their rift.
